The background theme after 0:20 makes me think about the beauty of the person i love, but i really see myself driving on the highway at night and having this music playing in the car on a medium volume. Amazing track though, it's my 15th time today listening to it. Not counting every other day ;)
This is night music - pure and simple. Music of the night. To be played in Dark clubs on systems where the bass blows your chest. ... and when you climb into bed at 8:00am the following day and shut your eyes you can still hear it banging in your head and you think "fuck how am i going to face work again tomorrow".
this tune (25 years old at time of writing this comment) sounds less dated than others released 5 years ago. Deep, warm, sexy, magical, ethereal, great bassline...I could go on and on and on about how much I love this tune and how much I've always loved it. My love for this tune has lasted *much* longer than any of my affections for any lovers (true!)
Favorite All-Time house song ever! Never knew the name or artist THANKS for the post!!! YouTube is "AWESOME"!!!! FYI That is NOT Martin Luther King people, they just borrowed that style of speech for the song. M.L.K was not housin' it up like that! : ) LMAO
goosebumps!!!my all time favourite number 1 tune.so uplifting.remember hearing this as we went back into the zap after going out for a smoke in the car.my mate looked at me and we just grinned at each other!its true, house is a feeling.
SOME ONE DID A SHIRLEY CEASAR REMIX !!! DANCING LIKE FIRE ! HOUSE MIX CAN I KNOW WHO THAT IS ,, THEY SAMPLED HOLD MY MULE! NOT DJ TONY PEOPLES..
GREATLY APPRECIATE ANY HELP THAT YOU CAN GIVE BEEN ON MY MIND FOR YEARS!!!!BEING A DJ MYSELF I KNOW YOU CAN UNDERSTAND THE FRUSTRATION OF NOT KNOWING THE NAME OF A SONG OR ARTIST THAT WAS SO HOT IT STAYED WITH YOU FOR SO MANY YEARS ! PEACE TO YOU MY BROTHER DJ BAMBAM
Dreaming my way back to the Chicago House days back then whwn listening to Mr.Fingers...Amazing track and one of my big Fav's of all time in House music (all night long) F****** GREAT!!
Yes, it still sounds so incredibly fresh and has just got to be the best House track of all time! I remember hearing this after being half-asleep in some dark and dingy illegal club and getting straight back into it - at 7 am! Now there aren't that many records that'd make you feel like that!
Thank you for the version without MLK etc. I remember the first time I heard this it sounded too simplistic but upon hearing it again I realized it was the most emotional music I ever heard. It's impossible not to hear that now when listening but does anyone else remember having that revelation? Larry Heard brings life out of machines.
Literally: house music doesn't get better than this track. Unlike many other (classic) tracks from around this time it still sounds so fresh. I will be buried with this tune on vinyl next to me...give something for the archaeologists to scratch their heads about in 2000 years time if nothing else :)
I heard this track - knowingly - for the first time on BBC Radio 6 a couple of months ago. I don't know if I remember it from the time when it was first released, but as it played the DJs were discussing visiting Chicago (where I've never been, though I've been to the States a lot), and I just got that dance music feeling, which is like a buzzing under the skin, a creamy vanilla kind of audible taste, a feel-good kind of vibe which would-be feel good music cannot deliver. a wonderful classic...
It bring tears to my eyes when i hear great muziq like this. I love House Muziq, made me wanna be a dj. Thanks to two family members, K. ALEXI & MR.LEE for introducing me to the world of House Muziq and the muziq world. HOUSE IS MY LIFE!!!
"Can you feel it"is one of those tracks that takes you on a journey. It inspired me a great deal musically.I fell in love with house music when i first heard this record. Thank you Fingers.
It was this record - I heard it on a pirate radio station in London in about '86 and soon after i, like loads of people!, was going on an adventure.........ah i loved them days and this tune!!!!!!
I can rush without Es..Thank you Mr Fingers..Im 39 now and have listened to your beats for20 years....Thank God 4 u!!!xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
This is a supremely killer track. Heard The Seventh Clones remix of this on the B-side in a sick new mix by Santiago Salazar, which then set me on the hunt. Glad I found the original, though I must say the remix is KILLER. Unfortunately there's no preview anywhere save for a short snippet on Juno. Long live the old school!
great, I just discovered a version of this track with lyrics a week ago, and thought, nice I love this, only I wish I could find a way to remove the words... And behold: It already exists as an original!
this track is was groundbreaking but without the vocal not the cheesy one the one that explains about house being a feeling its just not as strong.iam you see iam the creator and this is my house and in my house there is only house music now some of you might wonder who is jack and what is that jack does?jack is the one who gives you the power to rock your body jack is the one who gives you the power to do the snake jack is the one who gives you the key to the wiggilie worm.etc xtc etc

@SpockDon absolutly!!!!..couldnt agree with you more and although missed by sooo many...this song puts me in a relaxed, calm mode, great track for long distance driving as well as some serious freestyle moves, saw a dude at a club about 15 yrs ago house the shit out of this song, made the whole dance floor stop and watch,he new every rythem and break in this song lol! i still remember that shit.
THE record!.....it's the cymbals!!!....they are just astonishing....no one has ever put cymbals like that on a record....they couldn't....you would of just thought of this.....this is the only house track I still listen to regularly...
i need to send u my collection and u would add to ur regular listening, come on fellow house head u cant talk like that u will ruin the house connection lol
Nah, s'ok ZachyZach....I've got this and a few thousand other vinyl delights, but thanks for the offer.....and it won't ruin the house connection mon amis.....there are still plenty of beautiful house records out there....just none as beautiful as this one... :)
Born and raised in Chicago, I remember this song as if it came out yesterday. WBMX on Friday nights with Bad Boy Bill (Before he became who he is today or even B96), Scott Seals even the great Frankie Knuckles all were WBMX before it became V103 (102.7FM). I relocated to Denver 2 years ago and I can tell you know that housemusic (Deephouse) will forever be in my soul. If you've never been to the original wearhouse then you missed out on the housemusic elite DJ's and people. Damn the memories :)

Those were the days mate,3-4 car loads of us,all in shirts, ties and jackets-you couldnt get in a club without them in those days!!! And usually that was the only club in whatever town we went to so it was always rammed full, not like today where every wine bars open till after 2am and most towns have several clubs where you can get in with jeans and t-shirt on cuz they need the money and need to fill them......Best house tune ever this is!!!!
We used to go to night clubs all over the UK to listen to this stuff 1986-1988,suits,shirts and ties, those were the days!!!! Great sound on this upload and nice one for not putting that awefull vocal version on!!! Fans of this should also check out VIRGO 'R U Hot Enough' also from 1986/87,there is an upload on youtube. NICE ONE.
I think people get WAY to carried away with a lot of dance music stuff. Give anything by Deadmau5, Fedde Le Grande, or even some of the classics like Santiono Echols, or Larry Heard a 5 just for doing something.
However, Can U Feel It? Is not in that category. This is a 5/5. A masterpiece, and in my book, the 2 greatest and most influencial Electronic music song after Phuture's 'Acid Trax'. 'Move Your Body', 'Good Life' and 'Big Fun' are classics as well (As well as countless others.)
This is the mount everest of house music. This track represents everything what house music is. It is pure glory. Pure emotion. Pure love. The house genre had nice tracks in the last 20 years. But this is just the masterpiece. Belongs to the best dance tracks ever. I was 19 when I heard this the first time and I am aware I have a nostalgic view by writing this comment. But I remember so well telling my friend "damn, what a track". And we danced to dreamland. And so many years later: I love it !
Beautiful comments ppl. House music all night long

I still find it amazing that this tune came out (originally) in 1986. One of my all time favourites, regardless of genre. thanks for posting

'Move Your Body', 'Good Life' and 'Big Fun' are classics as well (As well as countless others.)

this track takes me back to high school freshman year 1986. 1986, to me, was the pinnacle year for house music. just my opinion.

This is nice, but I like the slower version a lot better.
