That as much as anything proves he was the best defender of all time.
That tackle is ridiculous. He did everything wrong...backed off from the best winger on the planet...let him run towards goal in a straight line rather than take him outside and allow his defence to catch up...tackled with the side of his foot with an outstretched leg and on one knee...and most recklessly of all made the tackle in the penalty error where there was absolutely no room for error. Ridiculous. But then again the great players play a different game to the rest of us mug. Genius!

As a player, you are trapped inside your generation and it is so difficult to transfer ability and talent from one era to another.

Brazil could have played 11 forwards and they probably wouldn't have got past them. This game ought to have been the final, these were definitely the two standout teams of the era. Bloody Germans.
@Henners270591 At least here in Brazil Bobby Moore is rated as the best center back of all time, mainly because his outstanding performances against Pelé and other brazilian players, both on club and international level (matches Brazil x England were very common in the 60s and Santos played several times in England). He wasn't the typical English defender, he looked like an italian or southamerican libero like Baresi or Passarella. Probably the best player you've produced.
Just ONE man coud make Pelé stop or any striker ... his name : BOBBY MOORE. English Team 1966 and 1970 had two of the most extraordinary players of all times in ther positions: Gordon Banks, goalkeaper, and Moore, defender.
