  • This is one bad ass S&W!!

  • I do prefer four inch, blued revolvers but to each his own

  • Great review but are you sure that's a 4 inch barrel ? It looks shorter to me. I could be wrong though :-) anyway i enjoyed the review and thanks for posting :-)

  • @oneoctavelow

He told her it was 4 inches.

  • I'll probably have my dad get me my 1911 and a revolver and by this review and others I'm thinking of getting a S&W ^_^

  • What do i need to do to obtine a firearm for home defence?

  • @STONEPOWERS600 Wait until you are 18 to buy a shotgun is what I would do if I were you since you are only 16.

  • Part II: Perhaps a less risky self defense weapon might be a .380 or a heaver grain in a 9mm, using hollow points. Remember, if you injure or kill a bystander, you are accountable and will be charged for any unanticipated accidents. There are no excuses when using a firearm. I'm not opposed to using them, just use wisdom in doing so...consider the innocent bystanders!

  • The S&W .357 is indeed a fantastic weapon, but extremely risky!

First of all, the bullet on this magnum has a high velocity at close range. What does that mean to you, consider bystanders, the likelihood of it going through an assailant is a very high probability, even striking bystanders a greater distances! It's great for bears or mountain lions, but the supposed knockdown power as many refer to is unrealistic...it's too fast and will go right through a human body--even using hallow points!

  • @1LonePuma

Firing it at a person, in a self defense situation, is always risky.

There's a lot of disagreement in the interpretation of the laws.

Someone was recently aquitted in Colorado of 2nd degree murder for shooting someone in such a situation. The jurry found him to be justified, but he sure went through a lot, not knowing if he was going to prison.

But on your point, you can always use 38 bullets.

  • @charlesvan13: Yes indeed! Now days you nearly have to be sliced up in peaces before your afforded to defend yourself. Only the criminals get great representation for free, not the innocent. However, a dead man tells no tails, you can tell the story anyway you want providing he was shot facing you.

    Use wisdom...

  • I thought .38 were shorter than the .357 or is the .38 special longer ?

  • @counkev .38 is shorter. 357 magnum is longer but the same diameter.

  • @counkev Nice play by play. I own all of those + more (@0SanMan0), but I appreciate your thoroughness to others. (Your tip on your ejector on your .357 being longer as a plus was kind of funny after your CCW talk, but valid (mine is snub (and she carries WELL, with anything I chose to wear.)). If' you're in an hour long battle with someone and you only have CCW and you need multiple reloads, you were definitely in the wrong place at the wrong time. More than TWO reloads is a standoff! POLEASE!

  • Why do you say the S&W is better than the Ruger?

  • @tomgartin Because in my opinion it is. Of course that is just my unprofessional opinion which I have a right to have. Rugers are built like tanks but their triggers can be a little rough. S&W has been making revolvers for well over 100 years and they have dang near perfected their double action triggers. They are smooth and crisp and predictable. I am not biased to just S&W. As a matter of fact I have already sold this 357 magnum and I'd like to get a Ruger SP101just because I like that gun.

  • @jampants1, you can't obtain a handgun in Canada? I thought it was just difficult, I didn't know it was impossible.

  • @NuJoiseyMAN It's not hard at all, I just did it and I'm 18. All you do is read a book, do a test, and ship your papers away to the police in Newfoundland. About a 6 week process until you get the actual liscence back.

  • nice vid!

  • This is my next gun. People investing in gold should realize you can't eat it, wear it, live in it, put it in your tank, or defend yourself with it. Gold was useless in New Orleans after Katrina.

  • @jenica2072 Who says you cant have both? Yeah you cant eat gold or shoot gold but Katrina was over in a week. I cant redeem food and bullets for money when its time to rebuild. Do you not think we wont ever rebuild and start over? The Greeks and Roman empires fell and they also rebuilt and started over. Those with intrinsictly valuable metals like gold & silver will have a huge advantage in getting what they need to start over. And what if nothing happens and I have $20,000 in food & supplies?

  • @mixflip You can have both and certainly should. Someone, somewhere thinks gold should be 2k/ounce. Why? I have no idea, but it's a good investment. Can you tell me why?

You can't redeem food or bullets for money, why would you?

If nothing happens and you have 20k in food & supplies you consume the food and supplies, or you could stare at your gold.

  • @jenica2072 I agree with you actually on the long term collapse of the country. Investing in land would be smarter. Having an acre that you can produce your own sustainable food and sell the excess for other goods would be ideal. But I am talking about short term SHTF and you assume a collapse is going to be instant and not drawn out over 10 years like the great depression. If my fiat paper money is in a bank for 5 years it will lose its purchasing power but my silver wont (historically).

  • What does CCW stand for?

  • @wormmy158 concealed carry weapon or carry concealed weapon depending on where you are in the world? Some states call ed them different things. Its also called a CWP (concealed weapons permit) in some places? Search Google for more details.

  • @mixflip Ah thanks for the reply, beautiful guns BTW, take care!

  • How much did you get it for bro?

  • @7commenter7 It was a few years ago when Obama just won so prices were slightly up on uns (due to fear of gun bans) I think I paid $450 for it if I remember right?

  • @mixflip So will prices go back down if a Republican pres. is elected?

  • @7commenter7 Its not about republican or democrat. Its about the persons stance on gun control and Obama supported strict gun control in Chicago when he was a politician there so many were afraid that mindset would re-enstate the AWB that had expired in 2004 and that he might ad new gun restrictions? Thankfully he has been busy with 3 wars, hunting Osama, oils spills, and the debt ceiling to do anything about restricting Americans gun rights lol.

  • thats tite man

  • what is better a revolver which most likley will not jam but only has 8 shots or a semi automatic that might jam but has 12 or however many shots?

  • @splashu1 I like having alot of ammo if I am going into any fight for my life. Yes malfunctions can happen but they are easy to fix and reloading a new mag can often be the fix which only takes 2 seconds in some cases if you train alot? I train for my rifles and shotguns to malfunction so its not hard for me to do the same with my handguns. I still love revolvers but I'd choose a semiauto for me personally. For my wife I'd probably go with a revolver for simplicity until her skill get better.

  • Great review. Do you prefer rubber or wooden grip and why?

  • @BasicQuestions I like both but I prefer rubber grips for self defense since they help when my hands are sweaty. But wood look sexy.

  • @mix flip

First off, that is a nice weapon.

One thing I was thinking, since a person only gets proficient at shooting a gun at the range, do you think one loses any ability to shoot if they put .38's instead of .357's? I am not familiar with revolvers and my first experience with a revolver was with a .357M which was pretty difficult. It's an ass kicker especially after shooting a Glock 17.

Does the .38 ammunition somehow approximate the magnum in the revolver?

  • @gtdupree 357 does kick more but not as much as you would think. Hollywood has really scared people into thinking guns will blow your head clean off lol. Its more of a cost savings more than a recoil management thing. 357 is very expensive while 38spc is dirt cheap. This allows for alot more trigger time which is very important. Bad technique carries over to any caliber. I think I have a old video of 38spc vs 357 magnum somewhere on my channel from years ago?

  • I shot one of those last weekend, it is a BEAST. I'm probably going to go back and buy it. Outstanding trigger feel.

  • love this gun....<3

    how much did it cost?

  • @l3illabong $400 used.

  • Great review of the revolver..I have the same one which was given to me by my father..it has the wood carved grips, but yours seems to have rubber/polyurethane grips...where did you get them?

  • @iokepa820 I got my grips at a gun store for about $20. Thanks for watching.

  • which model is this?

  • @jc2fly Its the model 65-5

  • I LOVE IT!!! Great video...now this is what YouTube is all about LOL check out my Channel...I think you will like it "GY6productions" or search my favorite video I have posted called "POINT BLANK GROCERIES" LOLOLOOLOLOL You will love it

  • thanks because i like magnums

  • can you carry that wepon

  • @MrFlip1997 absolutely!

  • this guy is pretty interesting to listen to, he knows his shit, but hes not in your face about it like i am.

  • @masonroe157900000 thanks for watching. i have an ugly face so i try to keep it off camera as much as possible lol.

  • hey nice review, im new to the hand gun scene and this was very handy.

  • @phoenix546 Glad to be of help. I have lots of videos that might be helpful if you are new to firearms. Check them out on my home channel. Stay safe.

    - Mixflip.

  • Great video. I just got a sweet 686 no dash with original wood grips and houghe mono grips. Awesome hand gun. You are right on with your review S/W are awesome revolvers.

  • @Babuschka1991 Too bad for Germany. In the USA the right to defend your life is cherished and protected by our constitution. I prefer to carry a handgun with me every where I go. An armed society is a polite society. It keeps the bad guys guessing, does he have gun on him ?? good luck in Germany.

  • now tell me, why do we sell guns to public?

  • @donkylalex I am not sure exactly what you are asking? Did you mean why do we sell guns to "the" public? If so, I would guess because its completely legal in America? Its a product just like anything else. I'd say it falls under the "tool" category or "recreation/entertainment" category? Is it dangerous? Sure it is, but so is a car or alcohol or a pool...which btw those of which kill more people every year than guns do ironically.

  • @mixflip makes sence

  • @mixflip totaly agree mate

  • @donkylalex my question to u why u watch gun vid if u not like it ? if someone want to kill anyone they can do it with alot other stuff then guns

and... gun shoting is a fun thing its not the gun thats danger is the guy behind it :)

  • @rambohunt1 i never said this video was bad. i was just asking lol

  • Thanks man I've been looking into buying a .357 for home defense and this cleared some stuff up for me. Cudos

  • @Babuschka1991 Sorry to hear that. Restrictive gun laws only punishes and disarms the good guys. The bad guys, killers, robbers and people who want to terrorize will obtain guns illegally regardless of a law. And now that the good guys are all disarmed, it just makes the bad guys job that much easier since they know the general public is not going to have the ability to defend them selves. I bet knife crimes and crimes involving gasoline have gone up since the gun ban?

  • @Babuschka1991 You dont need a license to own guns in the USA. You just need a license to own specialty guns like machine guns, short barreled guns and other destructive devices. And they actually call it a tax stamp not a license. Gun dealers need a license to sell though. Regular citizens have their 2nd Amendment Constitutional right to own firearms. Its in our constitution.

  • Does anyone know if the grips from a s&w will fit a zoraki r1 blank firer, it seems to be nearly a direct copy.thanxs

  • does this 65 have alot of recoil? i would LOVE to use my dad's, but i have no idea if i could

  • Comment removed

  • This review is fantastic, very informative.

  • me, my dad, my friend, and my friends dad go hunting, my friends dad had a .357, i shoot it at the range all the time. my dad's too cheat to get one though...

  • i have one i shot it and broke my nose :C

  • @voltag3man Sorry to hear that. Sounds like you need to stiffen up your grip and arms. There is no reason that should ever happen with a 357 magnum. Maybe a S&W500? But not a 357.

  • @voltag3man as if bro, a .357? must have skinny little arms XD

  • I would like 1 of those

  • so how much did ur sexy ass tre pound cost. looks fuckin beautiful. i think i might get one just like it.

  • @MANUGIN808 I think about $500 since it is a S&W and its stainless steel and chambered in .357 magnum (not 38special)

  • @mixflip alright thanks.

  • Excellent review. My wife likes the revolvers as well. Simple, elegant, and does the job.

  • I just bought a Rossi R85 i believe .38 special bought it at Academy for like 259 bucks ... one of the best revolvers ive owned i loved the action and the weight its a great sturdy gun!!!

  • Great review

  • @TheLizardKing1967 Thanks

  • That looks like a 3 inch to me... Great handgun and wonderful for Home defense or car/truck gun. Uncomplicated, easy shooting a variety of loads, and simple for ladies to master.

  • Looking into getting a revolver for self Defense...why did you choose a revolver for home defense? wouldn't the other guns you have work just as well? just curious. this will help me make my decision in selecting a gun. ..also, what does ccw mean btw?

    thnx!

  • @PitPat23 CCW means concealed carry weapon. It goes by other acronyms though depending on your state? I got the revolver just because its cave man simple for my wife, plus it can be loaded with 38special for training and then loaded with the devastating 357magnum for self defense. Any gun will work fine for home or self defense...the issue if finding what platform is best for you as an individual since everybody is different. Try to get good with all guns, I say.

  • @PitPat23 Just thought i'd throw in my thought. One reason I like having a revolver for home defense is because, you can load it and let it sit for virtually forever (as in if you don't shoot it often) and it'll be fine and ready to fire whenever the need arises. With a non revolver if you load it and let it sit, over time the spring in the magazine can wear out causing problems like jamming. Either way happy hunting in your gun search.

  • @PitPat23 another good reason to purchase a revolver for home defence is because it dosent jam, rather than on a semi-auto if u have a jam you have to unjam it and if your in a situation, you may not have the time to unjam it, and obviously a revolver is VERY easy to maintain and clean vs a semi-auto. And if you had a misfire on a revolver, all you have to do it pull the trigger again rather than on a semi-auto u have to remove the round out of the chamber, overall revolvers a great for home def

  • Good choice enjoy.

  • I hate short-barelled revolvers ;(

  • @ernestas111 its not short barreled, a snubnose hase to be smaller than three inch inches, like 2.5 or 2, or 1, this is three inches which makes it a full size revoler, i hate snubnoses to, but i like this cause its full size

  • hey, i'm buying this gun off a friend of mine in a week or so and it's a model 65-5 too but it's older i think because the book it came with said 1990-1991. i was still an infant back then. haha. the grips are wood even and they're tiny. do you know if it's possible to get those rubber grips for those older model smith and wessons?

  • @rYOUokay I believe so. I think the frame sizes are pretty much standardized with designations such as K frame or J frame etc etc. I believe the 65-5 is considered a K frame? Do more research before you buy though? You also have to figure out if its a square butt or round butt design? I believe mine was a round design? I sold this gun a while back so I cant go look at it to refresh my memory, unfortunately. Sorry.

  • @mixflip yeah, it's a round butt. the grips dont wrap around the handle either. you can see the handle in between the grips which means the handle right now is pretty small. i dont know how that's going to feel when i shoot. i'm used to bigger grips like on a full sized glock. the rubber grips look better to me too. haha. thanks for the info though.

  • @rYOUokay yes you can,one of my Model 19s has rubber Houge Monogrips, if you have a square butt, theres an adapter that goes on the bottom of the frame and you screw the grips on from the bottom like on a round butt. These grips do feel super comfortable on these K frames.

  • @rYOUokay You should be able to. You can get them for automatics here in Texas. You just have to look around. Gun stores, internet, etc.

  • I take that back, it is actually larger.

  • Nice post, 357 is one of my favorite from the S&W series.

  • im getting one of those soon, I love these guns and around here sheriffs still use them because of how reliable they are.

  • dear santa.....

  • These things are huge i seen one in a gunshop the other day goodness gracious if someone pulled one of these on me i'd shit myself twice! They look small on the videos tho

  • @RADDxSTEEZY Nah they arent huge at all. The K-frame revolvers were used by police for years before the semiauots were adopted. Its the S&W500 that is freakishly huge!!!

  • @mixflip yeah those things are beast

  • hey man awsome gun i love the stainless steal and i am looking for a 357 my self and i love the one you have the barrel length iorn sights and everything else so how much are we talking on the gun

  • @baseball5052 It can vary. Id say roughly on the low side $400, on the high side $500+ and up depending on the condition?

  • @mixflip I found a brand new one the same size as that about 250. The price, i'm sure varies at different stores.

  • very nice...subscribed

  • @ThreeShotBurst Thanks

  • Are you sure that's a 4 inch barrel.. I have a 686P and it has a 3 inch barrel that looks exactly like that

  • @AftrBurNr I measured it from the start of the forcing cone to the end of the muzzle and it was 4" exactly. Maybe its classified as a 3" still, I dont know? Its usually measured from the chamber to the muzzle but revolvers dont have chambers.

  • Beautiful classic

  • I, too, have concealed carry weaponed this gun.

  • what is the black gun to the left in this vid, ?

  • @paintballa9991 its a PARA GI expert 1911 45acp

  • @mixflip got ya thanks, and i also watched your glock 26&19 review , and was just wandering your opion of the 19 verse the 17 for home self defence

  • Nice pistol. I have one and love it. Sometimes I carry it as a belly gun (inside-belt holster,) however it is waaaaay to heavy for regular CCW use. But just fine for home defense, targets, etc.

  • This gun is the Cadillac of revolvers! what a masterpiece

  • Beautiful! I want to marry that gun!

  • I got a 65-5 .357 stainless with 4 inch, love it

  • Very nice review, you seem to know what you are talking about, and you have some nice firearms,Im going to subscribe:)

  • @deerhunter1495 Thanks. Its nice to help when I can. Check out the rest of my channel if you liked this video. I am working on making HD videos but I am having a hard time learning the Sony Vegas Movie Studio software. It will take me a few days I'm sure.

  • This gun costs about $300

  • Isn't this what FBI agents carried before they switched to autos? BTW that's a beauty!

  • what ammo does it shoot it shoots 357 magnum ammo but what other ammo does it shoots 38 special and what other ammo does it shoots

  • I see you have a Colt 1911 there, whats the other handguns name? Is that a Glock?

  • I've got a S&W Model 19-2 with the target hammer and trigger. Absolutely love it. Period. The older Smith revolvers are SO MUCH better than the Colts of the same period, but that horse on the frame make them collectible.

  • .357 rules fuck COD. :)

  • how much was the .357 magnum

  • @jman1234561012 This model was $600. Its a S&W, Its rare, its stainless steel, its .357 magnum, and its got fixed sights... all the things that make it a little more expensive than most revolvers.

  • @mixflip thanks

  • I agree with you, you're right about the smith&wesson has the best trigger pull out the rossi, ruger, taurus, taurus tigger pull is kind of stout. On the other hand, the Ruger's 357 GP-100 is built like a tank, a Smith&wesson is the Hum-V's of the guns but the ruger's is a freaking tank.

  • dude but the adjustable sights are a great thing, what i do, i have 4 357 all with ajustable sights and one with the same sighhts as yours, even tho 2 of them are ruger, but it is true that its a great caliber, that adn the 45

  • great review , i really enjoyed it. What would you recommend for an all around revolver (hunting, self defense , open carry) and in what caliber ? thx

  • @mysticsailor1983 For self defense and open carry I'd go with a 4" barrel 357 magnum. It will be small enough to conceal if needed but still have a decent sight radius for decent accuracy at about 15 yards. I am not a hunter so I really couldnt say?

  • i wish i lived in the US so i could own a couple of firearms with no problems and not like in Gayrope i mean Europe where you need a million licenses to own a single firearm and you still don't have the freedom to shoot it

    (sorry for my bad English)

  • @Slic3R1 Sorry to hear that. I hate our politics but we do have nice gun laws in some states.

  • Comment removed

  • @Slic3R1 Well i live in Europe (Czech republic - so the middle of europe) and i sure do own a few firearms :) Here the conditions are not that bad you just need to pass background check and some basic test and then you can practicaly buy everything but full autos (and silencers). You can carry concealed (however open carry is illegal), and of course use them in selfdefence.

btw . great video i love wheelguns too

  • Comment removed

  • @Slic3R1 i feal so sorry for the people of your country to not be allowed to own defense, if there were a war you all would be target practice :,(

  • @Slic3R1 your english is actually pretty good. yeah, in the U.S. just but a 60$ license and your good to go.

  • @MrSkateholic you are lucky my friend

  • Just like half life 2 :D

  • looks like a fine weapon. I want one but I have another gun im after first. But the wife has me on a budget. :( lol!

  • it must suck to live in america because in australia we just tell robbers to fuck off or we will smash them , we dont use guns we use our fists.

  • @aquaboy232008 Good luck with that when the bad guy shows up with a knife or a gun. Bad guys buy illegal guns because they are in the business of breaking the law. Thank God for America's 2nd amendment (right to bear arms) law!!!

  • @aquaboy232008 Really? On the news i always hear of places getting robbed with guns or bats and the cashier didnt say anything, just opened the register and stood still.

  • i guess im just a redneck but i use a 12 gauge for my home defense

  • @ther3dn3ck I must be a redneck too since thats what I use too. As a matter of fact I have two 12 gauge shotguns for home defense.

  • @mixflip yea i got a couple to but i think i only need one for defense but it would be pretty cool to have a 357 but if i got on i would get 8 in barrel only cause i think it looks better

  • @mixflip Well I'm British. All I have is a cricket bat! lol

  • @Plekky08 Well I'm British. All I have is an Umbrella and a Crumpet! lol

  • @ultran33b I haven't had crumpets for ages!!!!!! I don't even have a cricket bat any more, just a selection of improvised weapons. =D

  • @Plekky08 To be honest, I never even see them in stores.

  • @ultran33b What improvised weapons? =D

  • @Plekky08 No, crumpets LAWL

  • @ultran33b Oh right... that's a shame; they make excellent throwing stars.

  • that is one of my favorite revolver

  • ugly

  • great vid thank you for the info

  • nice collection of guns you have.... good review on the revolver. I have a question what model is that 1911 looks very thin and all black looks nice...thankx

  • Nice gun buddy. Looks like you have custom grips too. I have the S&W mod. 65-2 stainless. Bought new 1980, paid $448 tax incl. & still have it. Wonderfull trouble free gun that is a joy to shoot. Good for home protection. But prefer my S&W mod. 442 airweight .38 or my Walther ppk/s-1 for ccw. Thanx 4 the post here.

  • What do you polish/clean the SS with?

  • There is this stuff called "never dull" that they sell at any car parts store and WalMart.

  • @PSNjizzcake i use hopps number 9,its great for cleaning the barell, cylinder etc. its great stuff

  • would that gun take down a deer or a bear?

  • Take down? Probably not? You probably could fight off a bear or scare off a bear and you probably could kill a deer if you were close enough and hit it in the heart...but this is not the gun you want for those 2 animals. Get a dedicated hunting pistol. This model used to be a cops gun.

  • GREAT review! this is the first gun i ever shot. after shooting my dad would explain how to disassemble it properly, clean it and all that stuff. mybe ill buy it off him someday.

  • Can anybody tell me (of experience) has the S&W 327nightguard with .357 ammo

much recoil or isnt it that much ?

  • I own a S&W 586 in hard chrome. Its a fantastic weapon. Extremely well made and durable. You take care of any Smith and they'll definitly out live you. By far my favorite revolver caliber. The variety of ammunition makes this particular caliber well worth the price of the gun. From heaviest 200gr full power loads for hunting to the lightest 110gr bullets for personal protection. The .357 stands head and shoulders above the rest!

  • how much u think dis kinda gun will call off tha streats

  • ????

  • oh the ?was how much do you think some 1 would sell a 357 to me if it was like illeagaly

  • illegal? Like stolen property? Some crack head or tweaker will sell you one for for $20 probably. Get caught with a stolen gun and you'll be in for some fun times in jail probably not to mention all the court fees and loss of work.

  • whatchu talkin bout willis?

  • @KANSR209 either youre joking or youre a wanna-be gangster.

  • haha n us a bitch or a fukin faggit

  • i laugh when i see you write. go back to highschool, i know you dropped out.

  • @noobsmasher123 haha y dont u go get a gf i kno u never had 1
