You are the man - just like homeboy says in the video. I hope you find the inspiration to capture more episodes. Your videos are an inspiration and I find myself watching them over and over.
I do them both ways, but it is nice to hear the running of the fish for the first part of the fight compared to the silent video. Wished it would only click when line is being spooled and not when you crank!
bra dis video is so awesome. I dream of fishing from my canoe at school every day. You should redo this video and play music to it, but don't cut the actual sound. Ho bra dat would be nuts!!
I've attached a dive bag to the back of my canoe and also a piece of PVC to use as a rod holder. Safety is your main issue as a fish that size can easily break your ama in half or get you tangle in the hook as you are in a very unstable environment. Good Luck!
Hey Mauibb, How do you attach the PVC to the canoe. I'think it would be best just to lash the PVC to the canoe, but it looks like you have some sort of a basket beyond a dive bag attached. Any who that's awesome.
There are a few of us, but the racing hulls we use weigh about 18 pounds and are very fragile so there is a fair amount of risk when using them for this non-intended use. Sharks can also be a problem if you have a long battle as they sense the fish in distress vibrations and can make the situation serious rather quickly.
we fish from our 4 man surfing canoe.. it weighs about 130lbs. it's easy to troll but to keep a slow speed is what we worry about... it's also easy to fish at night from it
that is an awesome catch, beautiful conditions as well...i was wondering how you were filming that and what kind of camera you were using cuz the video came out sweet, aloha, Jon
The total fight was only 18 minutes, but I've got some series drag set, enough to pull a person around on the beach! This rod looks small, but is an Alconite rod and incredibly tough.
Hi Lucia, The canoe I use is very light weight carbon fiber used for racing. They are strong but fragile like an egg shell. Patience is mandatory if you are going to fish from it. I catch my Ulua trolling so cover many miles of beautiful Maui waters.
Awesome catch dude!
