Oh I love these PathfinderPro tutorials, far more in-depth and accurate that ExpertVillage and PingSkills have to offer. Jim is a great coach and his advice is always spot-on. His videos have improved my game massively.
surely most players when recieving a pendulum serve even to the backhand will push to you forehand rather than diagonally because that is the correct way to play a pendulum return due to the spin.
What's correct for some players may not be the correct way for others! I think i know what a pendalum serve is, but the question dosent say what side spin the question refers to.
Is it side spin in or out! If i know which one it is, i could dictate where i would try to return the ball to, and i would not rule out returning it to my oponants forehand side. This would depend on where the serve has been delivered from.
so the ball he wants is usually from players, that don't understand where to return it, that just elect to block or push to the centre of the table which would result in it ending back to where he wants it?
No. This videos is about the mental approach to serving, how important it is to think about where you serve to, the depth of serve, speed etc and the impact this can have on the service return eg serving to the pocket cramps a player reducing the opportunity for them to attack the serve. The videos is not about spin or pendulum serves or the physical act of serving. That is a different topic and can be considered once you understand the mental side of serving.
first off I want to say that I believe all of ur videos are great and they really helped me improve my table tennis game but what i really wanted to ask was what nationality are you? if You dont mind me asking
Thanks for the feedback shaaban999. We made the videos to hopefully put something back into table tennis and to help promote our league in Preston so we're happy most people are finding them helpful as it makes it worth while us continuing.
Our table tennis association is based in Preston England. Both Jim and I are English.
Thanks for these. Having such attention to the process of learning this sport is unique among the tt videos I've seen on youtube.

cool.Very good eplainig of the tactics whitch is important , but i tnink you play with a bat which has not high spin and speed. Why ?

Reply from Jim Clegg:
My bat is reverse rubber both sides.
Forehand side is 2.2 mm and the backhand side is 1.8 mm.
I have always played with this type of rubber, because i feel that i can control the ball better.
I like to block and drive the ball, rather then use excessive spin, so i dont need anything different .
I do not play competitively now, so this type of rubber is fine for me when i am coaching.
