This is an Indian ringneck parrot called Alexandrian parakeet. What he isdoing here is normal for his type of parrots. i had same parrot and he would do it all the time without any training.

Actually, it's not a parrot, but an Alexandrine Parakeet. I know they're also called parrots, but it really isn't. :) you can tell from its long tail, only parakeets have long tailfeathers like that. Parrots have short tailfeathers. :D we have an alexandrine at school too, her name is coco and she's adorable just like this one :3

@assads2000 If I'm not mistaken, Parakeets are species of Parrots, just as Cockatiels are species of Cockatoos. Calling this a parrot isn't necessarily wrong but it's a broad term, like calling humans mammals.

@Naroiia I thought Parrot was like a overarching word for many types of birds, like the family name. And parakeet is the species. It's biological classification that everyone learned in 6th grade and completely forgot. kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus, species, etc. I could be wrong, but my Indian Ringneck is a parakeet but a parakeet is still a parrot. On the other hand, my cockatiel is not a parrot, it's a type of cockatoo.

I believe that would be an Alexadrine Parakeet. The thick neckband and lavender patches on its shoulders give it away. Also, ringnecks are much smaller than Alexandrines, and this bird looks bigger than a ringneck
