I thought that was a good question so i tried it. I was successful at taking the top off an empty Diet Coke can. It took several revolutions around the can. So yes.

Ha! my bro was swearing, trying to open a can. he had taken the label off showing the instructions. I saw the dent where the handle opens but unfortunately for me my bro was hungry and wouldn't let me solve the puzzle. Cheers for the tip!
