  • 2 nights ago a friend of mine was driving a 74 Torino Elite and crashed head on with a semi on a highway in Indiana. The car saved his life and that is the truth. If it had been a modern car with a rinky dink hood and sloped a sloped front end he simply would not be with us today.

  • Love the cars and the music lol

  • I remember my dad had a light blue one. that thing rode sooooooooo smooth. Thanks for such a great video of this Machine.

  • OMG !!!! I HAD THE EXACT SAME ONE AS THE YELLOW ONE!!! GOT IT IN 1979 WHEN I WAS 18. MAN THOSE WERE THE DAYS !!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO !!!

  • back in 1986 my friend had one 74 dark blue with white leather & semi top. we were always pitching in for ga$ money & playing Miami Vice soundtrack on cassette :)

  • My great grandmother had a car like this. Too bad my dad didn't have time to restore it. Would have been an awesome first car.

  • My 2nd favorite car was my 76 Elite. Carpet was almost like shag!

  • UGLY Rims at 2:46

  • The poor, poor car at 1:24, what an defacement :(

  • Ford's Grand Prix Want-A-Be

  • These cars must have been AWESOME for getting road head!!!!!!!!!

  • Looking for another 74' gran torino elite.. anyone saleing one inbox me plz

  • they shouldve kept making these fine tuned cars

  • Love the cars from the early/mid 1970s with the wide, super long hoods and real chrome bumpers!

These rides had real styling back in the day!

  • We had the Montego MX Brougham british racing green and my aunt had the Elite canary yellow. They were great cars and when I graduated high school, I bought a 1977 LTD II. All basically the same car, just sheet metal and appointments were different. They all rode like you were boating on a smooth lake,,,

  • my dad had a mercury cougatr xr7 it was a 1975 pretty much the same car the mercury always came with more options on them i like them both equal i alway's called the torino elite a jr thunderbird though

  • Love the cars of the 70s

  • I had a 1976 Ford Elite, man.....I loved that car. It handled better than you'd think it should have. One of the things you had to get used to was almost sitting over the rear wheels (notice how far back the front seat is located). You really had to make sure you didn't mess up on the turns. I wish I had taken better care of mine and wish I still had it.

  • had a 76 elite back in 79 man what a car !!! built ford tough. wish i still had it....

  • There's one of these for sale on route 152 in Seekonk MA if anyone is interested message me and i'll get you the phone number it is absolutely MINT it's got the 352 and it's a brown color. gorgeous car and it's a real looker. i would have bought it if i hadn't of just bought my 69 ford a week before.

  • Looks like a big BUCK TOOTH lol

  • Nice! Had a '75 with a 460 w/ 429 heads. Red w/ white top and interior. I'll NEVER get a white interior again! Too hard to keep clean. That car hauled ass though, but rode like a Caddy!

  • I had both a 74 & 75 Elite way back in those years. A drunk driver put the 74 in the scrap yard and a farmer put the 75 in the body shop and it was never right after that. A few years ago I wanted a car to enjoy and I looked and found an Elite way out in LA and had it shipped to Indiana. I changed it some and now I have that daily driver I wanted. Just need to get the MPG up a little.

  • @buccaneer43207 Great story! I guess even thieves are honest sometimes. I never really understood where they were going with the Elite, maybe just preparing the world for a slightly smaller Thunderbird. There were so many "trial balloon" models in the '70s: GM's Grand Am and Laguna tested the reaction to plastic bumpers while the '75.5 Seville tried to sell the idea of a smaller Cadillac. Lots of gimmickry, but it probably saved them from getting stuck with a whole line that wouldn't sell.

  • My dads first car was a 76 elite, with a blue body and a white vinyl top. He later got another 76 elite but this one was a cream elite with a half vinyl top.

  • I actually own one of this FORD Gran Torino Elite it is the Lime Green. It is at 157 at this video. And it's up for sale for now. If you need more info contact me dj0768@yahoo.com asking $4550.00 OBO.

  • My aunt had a 1976 Elite, I think it was Candy Apple Red. Had leather, and the dash looked like my 77 Cougar XR-7. Those were back in the days when they made a good looking car not made out of plastic, where you barely bump something now and you got a 1000.00 bill. The bumpers were big, but save me some money.. in so minor bumps, could not tell you even hit something. Thanks or sharing the pictures all beautiful cars.

  • Of all the retro cars, this has to be my favorite

  • @Pilot853 I have one for sale new york area

  • Nice video. I LOVE these cars. I missed out on a 74 Elite.Lt. blue, with dark blue interior, V8, AT, A/C, AM/FM Stereo tape, back in 81, for use as my first car, but I"ll have one eventually.

  • This was my first car! A yellow 75 with a brown vinyl top and interior with about 300,000 miles on it. Bought it for $75 and had a blast with it! I have a bunch of Alfas an MG, Datsun 260Z and a Fiero. I think it's time to start looking for one of these, 'cause I do miss it so much!

  • my aunt had a blue one, I think it was her graduation present, she used to drive me around in it when I was small enough to sit on the armrest, listening to old disco like this and rock tunes like zz top. she was beautiful, the most popular girl at her school, and looked great in this car, let me tell you. good times, I miss her a lot.

  • I remember these when I was a kid. Great looking cars.

  • I'm looking at one with 10k orig. miles. It still has a bit of rust! I didn't know they came out this low life. It has the round guages (Not Full) like Torino but then some Torinos have the Cougar Style full guages. I don't know if I like the front - Hey at 1:24 the blue one here looks like a Mustang II - just bigger.

  • had a 75 ford elite use to lay on the hood and window and watch the night sky. had to get rid of it my wife didn't like that I had different girls on the roof but her.

  • My first car!

  • LOVE HANGOVER !!!!!!! 1976 DISCO !

  • You are wrong about this body style being share with the Thunderbird in 72-76. The 72-76 Thunderbird bodystyle was a completely different platform/car, and was shared with the Lincoln Mark IV from 72-76. Starting in '77, up until '79, did the Thunderbird share the same bodystyle as the Mercury Cougar/Ford LTD II(Not to be confused with the full size Ford LTD).

  • @ukrainianstyle Yes, putting the Thunderbird on the mid-sized panther platform was Ford's second timid attempt at "downsizing"; the much despised Mustang II was the first. While the "full sized" LTD stayed on the larger platform through '78, the downsized '79 LTD was actually a new 4 door body on the short wheelbase Torino/Thunderbird/Elite version of the same Panther platform, which remained in production (as the LTD/Crown Victoria) through as least part of 2011.

  • @1SteedRunner I have not heard that in years about the odd/even numbers. They were doing it here in P.a and we would switch plates with our friends accordingly. I was going on a trip and there was a line of cars and the gas station attendant remember them?was looking at gas gauges and if he felt you had enough gas, you didn't get any. so I had to go home and disconnect the gauge to get gas for my trip. I never believed that crap. Look today we can buy all we want and moreat $3 a gallon.

  • Ive had 2 still have my second with a 460 BB

  • These cars are so RETRO. I love the style!!!

It is hard to imagine a time when there was personal luxury sedans like this everywhere on the streets. One day, I would like to see one for real!!!

  • My buddy has one. I've riden in it and its a nice car, he has vids of it on Youtube, his username is my74elite351.

  • @moparmaniac21 Hey evan! How are you man?

  • @my74elite351 Not to bad man, what about you? Hows the Torino doing??

  • @my74elite351 Not to bad man, what about you? Hows the Torino doing??

  • @moparmaniac21 It's good. It's still garaged now. I'm trying to get the money to insure it, and then it'll be on the road.

  • @ClassicFitness Lol dude stop by my place. I just bought one last night. In fantastic shape too!! Imagen driving something the size of a boat, while sitting on a couch with the visibility of being in a military humvee. <3 I love it. 12 mpg city and 18 highway though... :/
