@nabassu, AFAIK the opening ceremony in necessary to make sure the gauges are in working condition. I don't mind it because then I know all my gauges are working. :)
@mcbrite, That annoying sound is the Buzzer test for the warning feature. In case of a failure in the guage, or an out of "normal" reading (which is programmed) the buzzer alerts you to the condition that could damage your vehicle.

@elliottveares, pretty much ALL electronic gauges do this, For the higher end models, its a self test. for the cheaper gauges.. its just for show.
