Actually if you break it down the President makes just over $45 an hour, NOT a million. U.S. Presidents are also expected to pay many of their own expenses and many end up deep in debt at the end of their term. Ex-Presidents then make their money AFTER leaving office by giving speeches, writing a book, etc.

The President's annual salary is $400 K per year- go look it up. Since they are on call 24/7/365 that comes out to $45.66 per hour.

They have expense, travel, and entertainment accounts that total $169 K - but this isn't usually enough for the amount of traveling and entertaining they have to do and usually have to use their own money to make up the difference.

You seem to forget the fringe benefit of free housing, food, insurance, protection, clothes, bills paid, vehicles......
