  • beautiful song Pete. have not heard this one but it really goes deep.

I agree with Donae, I love listening to people with accents.

my brother in law is from Kent and doctored in Austalia for a few years before coming to Canada, you can imagine his accent. he talks so fast, most people hear the first 2 words and the last word of his sentence. lol

loved the song and going in my favs

  • @mommarox2 I'm actually the next county along from Kent if you take Sussex to be one county. Thank you very much Dianne!!!

  • I think this is beautiful! Lovely well chosen images! Great work Pete! really really love these type songs! Don't hear them sung in the states w/ beautiful sounding accent as yours. we all have accents buts some are much more melodious than others! Lol

This is beautiful and goes straight to my favs!

    Hugs

    Donae

  • @LittleFawn60 I don't think there are many over here that would say I have beautiful sounding accent lol. With accents it's how we perceive certain types of songs should sound, I think we would expect country music for example to be sung with a southern USA accent. Anyway I'm talking gibberish now lol, thank you very much Donnae.

  • I have never heard this old folk song , but I love it : ) Great job Pete I always enjoy the wide range of music that you do

  • "pitiful" attempt ? What do you say Pete ? This was WONDERFUL !!!! You sang fabulous and I love your Bouzouki play ! You must also have been in a special "mood" to do this very old folk song . Very special ...I must say ! all stars from me !!! your friend Karen:-))

  • @karenmuenchen I heard a version of this the other day and I felt the need to do it, it's featured on my channel page if you're interested. Thank you very much Karen.

  • This is just wonderful my friend. The song is mentioned in Scottish ballads of the 18th century but, like you I'm unsure if it originated in Scotland. Thank you for this lovely version. ♥

  • @weeyin1155 Thank you very much Jan.

  • Classic Pete. Good job.

  • @DamianNixon Thank you very much Damian.

  • Pete, I salute you!

I don't recognise 'pityful' or any negative remarks about your music.

This piece is true to the folk tradition.

A timeless story of relationships lost to war - sadly it is the same today - different theatre but the same greadful result.

You continue to delight, suprise and educate me, and a guess all of your loyal 'youtube' friends.

    Really enjoyed it, thanks.

    Steve

  • @bennettskb555 I've always had a passion for these old folk songs, probably because they are simple lol. Thank you very much Steve, I appreciate it my friend.
