One of the most joyous films ever made. I think It took a non Brazilian director to be able to stand back from the harsh realities of life and see the beauty in the narrative.

This film endures. It won an academy award for best foreign film in 1960 and the highest awrad at Cannes in 1959. I absolutely love this movie.
