What I truly don't understand is the PSN hack has not yielded any major postings of account details and has not been properly linked to any credit card fraud. So even if the password, userID and other information was accessed by an 'un-authorized' party the biggest person at fault is Sony for not taking simple and basic steps to secure your subscriber data. Even the example which Gunns used doesn't seem to match the PSN hack as the PSN data was not posted like those resumes were.
@l1f3l3555 You're making the assumption that whoever has stolen the information would want to post that information for everybody to see. Quite the opposite would be th reality where the hacker would try and sell the information they had gotten. Making it available to everyone eliminates its value. And for all we know, the hacker is just holding on to the information and waiting to use it at a later time when people have essentially forgotten and moved past this attack.
@GuyJolly when transactions like this are made there needs to be some sort of sample proof that the data is what they say it is. This normally includes a sample of the data as well as some sort of summary of what the system was which was compromised. So far there have been no reports of this. Not that these haven't happened yet, just no proof it has happened yet. Based on the data not being ousted immediately I think it is a far more probable scenario that the hack was merely 'Just for fun'.

Using the data acquired for malicious intent would have a higher likelihood of success if the data was leaked/sold and then used immediately after the breach took place. This could of caught the highest number of people off-guard.
