I've launched W8 in VB from my Ubuntu install and tried it out.

I could not see myself using this operating system outside of a tablet device. For a desktop environment, the Metro UI is an unnecessary change from Windows 7.

Not going to upgrade. If Microsoft tries to force it down user's throats, switching to ubuntu as my primary OS.

Windows 8 is mostly like windows 7, with a slightly new interface and some new interesting features. The desktop 'app', is just really a shortcut to the desktop and its basically the gateway into the PC we know and love. It may look like a windows phone, but its not completely different, it just has a new look and feel to it. It looks to be a great new OS, but only time will tell. Just do not be resistant to a new technological change, Get to know the new OS, and understand before you judge! :)

Mmmm, i dont think so i think WIN8 is going to be a full fledged OS and you'll have to buy it, but just remember this is a developer release, its prolly not even in beta, they will optimize and make it look much different and simpler.

I like the new direction windows is going. They are keeping their phone, xbox, and computer os looking alike. Altho this is a tad bit akward UI for a comuter, the fact you can get back to a normal desktop is nice. "Metro", to me, is just another program like Windows Media Center.
