Ronnie Friend...Still playing this everyday!!!! Please leave it up...it is a wonderful song...and Yes, I would very much like the MP3 if you could still send it. Thank You!!!
I have always loved this song and thank you for posting. I also enjoyed the video. I have a brother in the music business who had the opportunity to meet Nigel, Gus, and even Elton a few years ago. My brother was taken with how nice a guy Nigel was. Loved the Elton and Bernie era, and the great team that surrounded him.
It’s also noteworthy that the Swedish rock band ‘Alien’ is best known today just for their cover of this song in 1988, which reached #1 in Sweden and remained there for six weeks.
Thank You Ronnie Friend. I just got a sealed copy of the Album recently and it sounds pretty good. Amazing you can still find old Records like that. I bought the Greatest Hits CD hoping to get this song, but wouldn't you know it...not there!!! Oh well...but your'res really sounds great!!!! I am just glad you put this song on YouTube. I listen to it pretty much everyday!!!! Now, if someone would just put up my favorite song!!!! 45 version of
RonnieFriend.....Still play this almost everyday!!! I love it today just as much as I did way back when.. I have searched...with no luck. Do you know if this is on a CD anywhere???
That's great! Ur welcome! But no, I don't know of any CD... I have it only on vinyl! From the vinyl I recorded it onto cassette tape long ago, then more recently into the computer as mp3. I can send you the mp3 if you want...
I have the original album whoot! had a friend from England search and search for this album and he found it for me and sent it to me over 10 years ago still have it like its brand new I'm so lucky!!!! <3
This was a huge regional hit when I was at Mississippi State University in Starkville in 1975. The whole album is super, especially the cuts "The Songs I Sing" and "A Girl Like You". Thanks so much for this posting!
the bee gees did not have the original...it was a group called the marbles. american singer gene pitney also had a version. this is definately the best version! i have been trying to find this song for a long time. i used to have the lp. thanks for posting.
@barneypip This song is one of the six songs that the prolific Bee Gees wrote for The Marbles, and was their 'only one... ' major hit: it reached no.5 in the UK Singles Chart, Nov 68. (Their 2nd single "The Walls Fell Down" -also by the Bee Gees- only reached Number 28 in the same chart). In 2006, Declan Galbraith did the best cover of this song.
I am still listening to this almost a year after finding it. Thank you for leaving it up....I love this song. I wish there was a station that would play lost songs like this!!! There are so many great songs that have been lost...but thanks to people like you...they still live here!!!!
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You for posting this song. It's been one of my favorites since I first heard it in '74. Imagine my surprise when I found out it was a cover AND that the Bee Gees wrote it. That makes it even more special.
Holy Crap ... yrs. ahhh what am I saying ...dacades past , havn't heard this heart pinching melody since then... what a great tune this was in the early 70s...how much I loved it.
Thank You Ronnie Friend...when I was little I heard this song on the radio...but as years past I forgot the song,,though I never forgot that line Only One Woman. 35 plus years later I stumbled upon it on You Tube...I thought I had made it up...but here it is..the song is real!!!! Has brought back so many memories...thanks for posting this song..sincerly..Gene
Great song and a good rendition of it, own the LP.
I should probably correct you that Bee Gees hasn't released a recording of this song as it was written and produced by them for the group Marbles and most likely play on that recording too.
Bee Gees recorded their own version of this song during the Main Course sessions in 1975 but that version remains unreleased so far.
Amazing!
