What about all the other humans on that rock? Did the Fleet send ships to rescue them, or are they stuck there waiting for the pursuing Cylons to wipe them out? Ditto the human settlements in a number of other episodes.

@TommygunNG That possibility might make for some good fan fiction... or some remakes! My guess is that some of the other humans would be picked up, especially the poor... some might ignore or not believe the stories of the destruction of the colonies and would remain... and some of those who remain would end up perishing at the hands of the Cylons or one of their allies. You raise a good question.
