we're performing this for our floorshow right now and i absolutely love it. it's a little difficult for me to play because of all of the key changes, and i'm used to faster songs, but this is such a beautiful piece. i can't wait to play it for our community. i know they'll love it as much as i do.
Everyone who went to this school in the 90's fucking hated it. They made a song to remind us: "WE are Columbine, NOT YOU!" darn preppy rich toadies there don't care about anything but their damn sports. "WE are Columbine, NOT YOU!"
Um, get some respect. Techeli wrote you guys an alma mater after finding out you guys didn't have one, and then he dedicated an american elegy to you guys after what happened.
Dude I don't understand you. Your an ungreatful little shit. I know what happened was a terrible thing but you are critisising othersw because their dedicating a song for the terrible shootings at Columbine. Show some respect you sound like a total fool. If you go to Columbine you shouldn't be saying disrespectful things like that. The kids that died in this tragedy would look down upon you and be discusted. HOW DARE YOU!!
My Wind Symphoney frommy hight school performed ths piece a year ago, the alma mater and An American Elegy in remeberence of the victims. When we where done there wasn;t a dry eye in the house. It was also right after the tornado demolished Enterprise High school( the school colors are the same) because my band director and his wife taught some of the students who lost their lives that day. Needless to say that was an amazng performence.
we were going to play it but my director, who was friends with quite a few people from columbine, as well as half the band, started to cry in the section with the alma mater.
my band also sight read "An American Elegy" at the begining of the year. we were gonna play this in concert, but our teacher changed his mind. i really think that this piece alone would have made the concert better than any of the other concerts we have had in the past. its so moving that words cant describe it...
We sight read "An American Elegy" in band a couple weeks ago, and my director told us about how this song by Ticheli was created. It's so beautiful. Credit to the band, it must take strength to sing this alma mater.
i love it too. im not a columbine student, but i just love frank ticheli and the way he incorporated some of the alma mater into the song American Elegy
I go to columbine right now I am in the choir and frankly you Gus did a good job it was just a little bit rushed look up how we do it

I just played An American Elegy with a band, and I must say it was amazing. This section which contains part of this alma mater was very moving.
