  • On my to-do List!

  • I don't know. I picked up a jar yesterday at an international market. I kinda like it. Just don't use it like peanut butter and you are okay. A little Vegemite goes a long way.

  • Vegemite, I tasted it once before: I thought it tasted like benzin. Has that something to do with this? :-)

  • as an american who has eaten vegemite, and has a small jar in her pantry i understand. you cant put heaps on like you would peanut butter. some butter and a light smear is quite nice.. almost like a strong cheese. thats just my take tho.... yeah i have an aussie boyfriend lol

  • Australia made, internationally misunderstood.

    so true...

  • screw vegemite, marmite ftw

  • @TyJohnL

What is the difference between the two items?

  • @PsychedelicVideos Rednecks? Tut tut little man. Those in glass houses...will squeal like a pig. Do I hear banjoes?

  • vegemite rocks

  • vegemite is disgusting. australians are like british rednecks.

  • @PsychedelicVideos , come up with something original and stop stealing lines from Robin Williams.

  • @perf5paul HOW BOUT I COME UP WITH SOMETHING ORIGINAL AND RAPE YOU IN YOUR VIRGIN ASSHOLE ;)

  • @PsychedelicVideos - Aww, dude, not cool.

  • @Haddyskelly your asshole is next.

  • Yummmyyy...vegemite tastes so good if you grill it with cheese..mmm :)

  • I'm swedish and love vegemite. First time it taste a bit odd, not bad though. And since then it's grown on me and I lvoe it on toast with cheese. ^^

  • @rumiaji thats the way to eat it, good on ya mate.

  • I'm from Wichita, Kansas. Spent two months in Perth in the 1970's. Tried Vegemite on a bet, and loved it. There is a store near me that does international foods in Cincinnati, Ohio that stocks it. There is always three or four jars in my cabinet. The stuff is great on whole wheat bread with cream cheese.

  • You're the first american I've heard who actually likes the stuff.

Most people don't realise that vegemite's not something you can learn to like - it's either you love it right from birth or hate it your whole life.

  • I am American, I have not tried vegemite but i do love some peanut butter and jelly!!! It is good! PP&J sandwiches YUM!. Whats so weird about putting jelly on your peanut butter sandwiches?

  • Well for one, in Australia, we call jelly "jam" and what you call jell-o, we call jelly so to us, it sounds like you are whipping some 'jell-o' onto a sanger (sandwich) with pb.

  • I refused to try vegemite for 10 years (I moved over about 10 years ago).

Recently I tried it... Lots of butter, thinly scraped vegemite on nice bread... So delicious!!!

  • It's even better with a big helping of vege - but you have to have strong taste buds to eat it that thick.

  • Well in my opinion, its unaustralian to not like Original Vegemite.

    Vegemite 2.0 is shit.

  • fully agree, the new one basically is just kraft cream cheese withe vegemite and thats it :(

  • @AUSSIEGIRL2496 its not bad but the original is so much better

  • Psh! I would say most Americans have never HEARD of Vegemite. They don't so much as "hate" it, but they've never eaten it. I looked this video up when I read an article about an American company changing its recipe and about the back fire when they changed Vegemite's recipe.

So don't be harsh about us Americans. We can't like or hate something if we've never tried it. Or heard of it. Or even seen it in our grocery stores.

  • The thing with vegemite you have to eat it with bread that is not sweet. American bread is too sweet for vegemite.

    or....

if you are willling you can try this..

make a sandwich of vegemite on toast with cheese. dunk in hot tea.. perfect!!

  • No your don't. I put vegemite on all sorts of foods (sweet, plain, what-have-you) and it's perfectly fine to me.

But then I have stong taste buds, so I can go through a whole jar (medium-sized, anyway) in only a day.

  • Mmmmmm shit!

  • u add shit loads of butter to a little bit and it taste good

  • @mazza23 Acutally, I did and even added loads of cheese, but it only made it taste worse. Vegemite is the only product that I absolutely can't stand, I mean, I eat practically everything, even bitter melon and neem-flowers, but Vegemite? EEEEEW.

  • and try and get some bread WITHOUT corn syrup in it.. I know how you americans corn lobby is =p

  • LOL LOL i agree totally KRAFT HAVE GOT THIS REALLY WRONG THE ASSHOLES ARE TEARING DOWN AN ICONIC I CON (LOL) -

I DONT WANT TO EAT VEGEMITE WITH CREAM CHEESE YIKE - I THINK KRAFT HAVE SO MUCH OF THAT DISGUSTING BOTTLES CREAM CHEESE THEY THOUGHT - WHAT CAN WE DO WITH IT BEFORE WE THROW IT OUT THEY MIXED IT WITH VEGEMITE BOOO HOOO SHAME ON U KRQAFT6

  • VOTE WITH YOUR WALLET

  • I HAVE I WILL NOT BUY THAT SHITMITE

  • Good, it means there is more for the rest of us that love it.

  • @gribae u can have it all -

  • tastes fine to me

  • I normally have it just on it's own on toast. Lovely. Despite being British, I prefer Vegemite to Marmite. Marmite is just so strong, you can only have a wafer thin amount otherwise it just blows you sideways.

  • Vegemite is one of those things you have too grow up eating to like, I think very few people will like it if they haven't grown up eating it.

The best way to have Vegemite I think is spread it on thin with plenty of butter!

  • I have to disagree, zennus. You don't have to grow up eating it to like it. I just tried my first Vegemite today. I'm eating it between typing. A thin layer on Vegemite on whole grain bread is yummy. A little salty for my hypertension (I'm hoping for the Reduced Salt version, so even Granny can eat it!) Hey, do you have to refrigerate this stuff?

  • No, it lasts longer than toxic waste. You can keep it in the cupboard for over a year and it's still good. Trust me, I've tried it. =]

  • lol! I believe ya when my (Australian ) Girlfriend was clearing out her cupboard after sharing a flat for a year she had a bit left in a jar, Gives me a bit on a spoon "not bad I says" yea says she and its been hidden behind the flour for 8 months till now!

  • The good thing about vegemite is that it has a very long expiration date, so even after 8 months, it would still have been as fresh as when she first bought it.

  • I love my vegemite. Truthfully I reckon Americans wouldn't hate it so much if you ate it right. Don't put heeps on! Only alittle (unless you're a diehard fan of it). If it's your first try only put ALITTLE!!!!!

  • i once did 1cm thick

  • XD and I thougth I liked mine thick but that takes the cake

  • Mhmm, i think thats the mistake they make.

And man, im aussie, and i luuuuuuv

    Vegemite.

Ive had it since i was a baby.

    Good stuff :D

  • I have a friend whom I talk with who is from the Perth area. he is going to send a jar of it over to me, so I'll get to try it for the first time. I can't find it around here in Phoenix. Should be interesting. He said the same thing, a thin spread on toast. I'm going to video my first experience of vegemite and send him the video. LOL!

  • I'm U.S. American. I LOVE this stuff. I started eating it at. . .well, let's just say a ripe old age. Makes my mouth water just to think of it.

  • I've tried it once, I'm an American. I did put only a thin layer of vegemite on a piece of bread. OMG I WANTED TO BARF! What's in that stuff anyways?! It doesn't taste very good, lol

  • The best every way to eat vegemite is one piece of bread then butter then vegemite(thin)Then you get another slice put peanut butter on it.Then put it together and there you go the best tast ever!!YES you herd me vegemite and peanut butter.I love it but not many people i know can eat it the way i do.:P

  • lol it's good to know I'm not the only one that does that - been having vegemite/peanut butter sangas that same way since I was 4

  • Same i wouldnt have it any other way

  • vegemite is mad american ppl hate it but thats cause you have no taste aussies have the best taste cause we like VEGEMITE!

  • No, American's when they first try it, slap on heaps of it like it's jelly not understanding that a thin layer of vegemite is just enough.

  • Also, from what I've been told by an Australian friend when discussing Vegemite, American bread tends to be much sweeter than Aussie bread, thus making the spread taste like crap (like when I tried it). My friend suggested using a sourdough bread with Vegemite - then it doesn't taste as salty.

  • I eat my Vegemite on toast without butter & I lay it on thick so I can't see the bread. I want FLAVOUR & vegemite flavour is the best.

  • I'm Australian and I can't stand the stuff!

  • for people who dont get it, these people are form say america... they thought Vegimite was a brand of axle greese because it was black LOL

  • I eat mine with KY Jelly

  • I remember trying peanutbutter and jelly (as in the dessert) lol

  • lol thats a good one

  • yea..misunderstood..In the same way horse shit is misunderstood

  • GO VEGEMITE

    ..bloody sissys

    lol

  • When my dad was born premature, they kept him alive on Vegemite!

  • Vegemite, awseome!

  • Great, eh?

  • All this talk of peanut butter and 'jelly' Is there no one else here who LOVES vegemite and peanut butter on toast? Try it people, TRY IT!

  • I've never tryed it but my cousin loves it!

I'm kinda scared to try it, I mean vegemite is great, P/butter is great, so maybe... lol

  • lol that hilarous, using vegemite to greece a car, lol.

  • Although I ain't pure Aussie, I was born in Australia and I enjoyed Vegemite, and to facts, Veggies help your growth and other things, which is why Vegemite is a good choice for your children, also it contains vitamins (Obviously) which can also help adults with hard work which gives strains and is good for when your having lunch to get rid of those stresses.

  • im sure ur as aussie as aussie can be.

  • "Those wierdo's eat peanut butter and jam together"

    So true!!

And what's with calling it Jelly?

    Jelly is jelly.. not jello..

    lol

  • I am an American currently in Australia. Vegemite isn't so bad. I love Peanut Butter, usually don't eat it with Jelly.

Vegemite works best when spread thinly over a lot of butter.

The video is great by the way!

  • Yes. THANKYOU.

Why does everyone seem to think we eat gobfulls of it, even WE don't like that.

  • Toast, butter, and THICK vegemite, YUM! Can eat a whole loaf of bread that way!

If I ever go to America I'll have to bring my own jar just to get me by.

Those wierdo's eat peanut butter and jam together.

  • Dont Embarrass the f****** country... *Sigh* People like you make me hate the fact that i live here... Stop being so steriotypical!

  • I'm an embarrassment because I enjoy my vegemite? Get over yourself :p

  • Your embarrasing cause your supporting the typical Australian stereotype.

  • Rofl, so because I enjoy vegemite I embarrass you? Wow, you need a life. I might go have some toast, with thick vegemite :)

  • "Toast, butter, and THICK vegemite, YUM! Can eat a whole loaf of bread that way!" "...Those wierdo's eat peanut butter and jam together."

    Stereotypical, all im gonna say.

  • Honestly if you get worked up so easily that you'll stress over someone you'll never know liking a certain type of food, and disliking something else at the same time, you're going to stress yourself into an early grave and I feel sorry for you.

My point was toward the people who don't like vegemite, it might seem wierd to them, peanut butter and jam seems wierd to us, what's the difference? I don't get how stupid someone has to be to have it explained to them like this?

  • Wait wait wait!!! So Aussie's DON"T eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches????????

What else is there to put on peanut butter???

  • howabout penut butter by itself on bread or toast? fatty.

    and its jam not jelly.

  • Ick. By itself?!? lol. That sounds bad. And it can be Jelly or Jam. Same thing.

  • Vegemite and cheese of course....

    Yay for tiger toast!!!

  • I eat penut butter and /jam/ it's great!

  • This stuff is made by Kraft? And I can't get it at the supermarket? Now I see why people hate America.

  • The only way to eat vegemite is no butter straight off the knife. my record is 8.5 of those little vegemite pack things u get at hotel breakfasts on one pice of bread. it was just black

  • us aussies love our vegemite :D hehe yup grew up wif it nd still luvin it :D

  • I am such a failure as an aussie because I've never tried vegemite *oh the shame*

  • yep, its odd... but so delicious. i had a vegemite and hair gel sandwich this morning.

  • lol fucking oath i love it grew up on it now im big and tall and on the dole what more can a australian be

  • the people that dont like vegemite are the people that put in on the bread like peanut butter or something.. its ment to be like 85% butter 15% vegemite. yes i agree it can be gross if u put too much but when u put just a little bit its nice

  • well i'm about the opposite. an Aussie who hates vegimite. hahaha that stuff is black death.

  • I also am an American who likes Vegemite - and my son loves it too! Problem is, all these videos on here are people not trying Vegemite the right way. You don't just stick your finger in it...you put it on buttered bread! Ignorance, we need a vaccine.

  • i didnt know vegemite wasnt sold in most countries of america here in costa rica kraft do sell that same vegemite and i really like it.

  • vegemite is the best!! i think i might make some toast with with vegemite now :D

  • I'm part of the .01% of Americans who like Vegemite. Good commercial! If only I could get my friends to try it.
