  • Crimson cru Gibson owns the rites to the letters sg when its used to identify a guitar. It was 1961 when that happend. Gibson and Epiphone are the sole companys that craft real sgs. Theres 50th anniversarys EPI AND GIBBY 1961 sg's

  • CrimsonCrue you fuck heads just hate it when your corrected Get use to it asswipe. Gibson and Epiphone are the only 2 guitar companys that craft the Les paul and Gibson usa Endorsed Epiphone and Gibson Sg's and Lp's

  • @stratdem as yugiohfranis said, its quite true. SG is just a shape for gibson. SG is solid guitar. Sayin i hav an SG doesnt mean that i hav a gibson. i hav a yamaha, and thats an SG. and no, i dnt mind when a fuckhead like me gets corrected. people like YOU, who like to correct people when they dont even noe all the details are the only "correctors" that annoy me, so pls, fuck off!

  • @stratdem It's just a model name you fool. Yamaha aren't copying anyone. Go and research the Yamaha SG and you'll find they only started using the symmetrical two horn shape in the mid 70s...before then, they were called SG-??? whatever, and were nothing like the Gibson planks.

  • Usa any more to be top pro qualiy.

  • My way 43. i agree when you said the japanese made guitars were some of the best made. Now you also need to add china/indoneshia and mexico. China today has some of the best craftmans/luthiers on the planet. Your guitar does NOT! Have to be made in

  • Awesome sound!

  • @stratdem Yes this is a fake guitar... :-S

  • @stratdem I owned on of these about twelve years ago. Simply the best guitar I have ever owned hands down, and I have owned Gibbys, PRS and all. I am very sorry for selling it. I hope to own another some day. I will take it to task and go on record saying the best guitars I have ever owned were of Japanese manufacture

  • @stratdem alrighty. SG=solid guitar therefore all non-hollowed guitars are sg's. Telecasters, Stratocasters, and Les Pauls (forgive me if i missed one) are shapes of guitars, all of them are sg's. a gibson SG and an epiphone SG is just the shape.

  • @stratdem lol ... get a life...

  • @stratdem so your saying chris poland the master of guitar plays a fake guitar?

  • @stratdem you fucking tit. when this guitar was brought out it was even named the les paul killer, you clearly know nothing about guitars. It was given that nickname because of how amazing it was.

  • @stratdem Yamaha shook everyone with the models they made in the mid 80s .. some of the biggest Les Paul and SG players in the world took them up on these fine models they built. After this guitar came out lots of players started opening their minds to the other makers out there like PRS. Better to stand by the guitar than the company than the company that makes itt.

  • @stratdem Epiphones are also fake by your dumb assed logic. The company ws bought by gibson to make COPPIES of the real thing. HOLY FUCK YOU ARE DUMB

  • @stratdem you might not know, but Yamaha has been making guitar with the modelname SG since the 60's.

  • well, it sounds nice, it looks good, it seems to be a pretty good guitar over all... but i like the shape of the gibson sgs better.

  • Guyatone wah rocker

  • I have a SG 300, bought it really cheap, used, some 20 years ago here in Sweden. I also have a Les Paul (and some other guitars) but the 300 is the one I like the best.

It´s light, easy to play and sounds great.

  • lol it amazes me how ignorant ppl can be.a lot of them are like "Japanese guitars are good ,but they don't have any soul".i think the "Soul" part comes from your playing and not the guitar.I personally am a huge fan of Yamaha guitars.have you guys played Yamaha Pacifica 812?IMHO its way than most of the strats, for less than half the money.too bad they've discontinued a lot of their great models for some reason (((

  • @velocity80 Yeah it's kinda sad. But on the other hand - I kinda understand them. People don't want a "perfect" guitar, that is just like the one next to it. All the SG1000's and 2000's are PERFECTLY built and not different in any way. With gibsons or strats its another matter. They are all quite different - and that is actually bad "morale" from the company. But when you finally find that "perfect" strat, THATS what people call the soul: It has no equal...

  • @velocity80 but you're right. The soul is from the fingers and mind.

  • @velocity80 Santana used to play Yamaha SG2000 back in the 70's. Had FANTASTIC tone and sustain, which is one of the reason's why Carlos played one through most of the 70's. Couppled with his Mesa Boogie Mark I amps, it was an unparralled pair !

  • One day you will regret that ;)... That guitar is piece of a art.

  • get rid of that echo/sustain.... its more benefical if demoing guitar....

  • @ezmosolar No sustain. A little bit of delay. But too late change - it's been sold long ago.

  • dont like this guitar much :/

  • @SgGuitarrocker No guitar can satisfy everyone :)

  • @SgGuitarrocker Gibo fan maybe... ?

  • @SgGuitarrocker I think if you played one, you might change your mind.

  • @SgGuitarrocker Your loss..

  • I Wish i could hav one...

  • Nice demo. Awesome Rock tone.

  • I have the SG 1200-S and the tone is perfect for classic rock, hard rock and fusion. Take a look on my video. (made for a contest). Its much better than Gibson Les Paul in my opinion, becouse this guitar have overdrive/distortion tones very similar a Gibson Les Paul Standard, but the clean tones is much more creammy and smooth. Really nice clean!!

  • The original ones are really heavy and contributes to their overall sound. I've got a 1977 SG1500, the fucking thing is about 3" thick and it must weigh 20lbs.

  • Can't hear the "soul" of the guitar with all that distortion and messy playing. Do some clean-tone demos mate. Peace

  • is it a neck heavy guitar?

  • @Hayeskirch they are extremely neck heavy, sound great but the neck heaviness makes playing standing up a real drag

  • Very nice guitar and tones. It's a lot better built than many Les Paul. It's just a shame the PU's don't really sound PAF.

  • Nice tone from your amp, a little too crunchy for my taste but sweet anyway.

Check out my video response if you want to see an amateur loser attempt to jam with this beauty on Sunshine of Your Love with a crappy Line 6 Spider III.

  • BTW, I dont play the song straightforward on how it is on the recording, I tried to improv a lot toward the last 2/3s in the style of Chris Poland :P

  • great tone there!!!!!!!!

  • I'm saving up for either this, or the Yamaha Sg3000. but which is better? the 2000 has pedigree, but is the 3000 better quality or what? anyone who has both of these guitars would be greatly appreciated =]

  • @Nadrim The 3000 is better, period. I've had both and compared them like fuck. The 3000 feels like a true "custom", the 2000 by comparison, feels like a "standard", if you follow. The sound from the 3000 is more transparent. Buy a 3000 if you can get one. Even played a new 3000 re-issue and that was magnificent too, same sound as my original 80's model but with a thicker neck profile.

  • hey i was thinking of buying this guitar and i dident relize that it was over 2000$ do u think they would have these guitars for 500$

  • Nope

  • @soren650 hahaha nice and simple

  • There's an SG700s but can't vouch for if it's any good.

  • i have a 800 series second hand blue its great. you get a lovely rock and punk sound and it cleans up nice for blues and jazz

  • @durtrunner i'm saving up to buy one, i found one for 1600 euro, which for new is a great price. but on ebay i saw one that had just been sold for £700, second hand. so i guess count on a bit of luck and you might find a cheaper second hand one

  • @durtrunner; While everybody know Fender and Gibson. Yahama SG range has a component and buld quality that is very hard to beat, The performance and tonal range of these guitars are superb. It a top end product cheaper than Gibson, but not inferior.

  • @durtrunner I bought my SBG 1200 for $600. Not quite the same thing, but still an amazing guitar.

  • @durtrunner There is no way you are getting this guitar for $500, not new. You may want to look into the "Indie FDL", not an SBG but one of the best guitars you can get for $500. It is not very hard to kill a LP.

  • Gibson forced Yamaha to change the name to SBG. I've read the very early models were extremely light, but definitely not the case with the more recent ones.

  • Tried to do this before but it didn't work. I take it your from the States, Yamaha don't sell it as an SG over there. Don't know what they call it was called an SG when it first came out but they got sued by Gigson and so they changed the name. It's really quite a famous guitar Caros Santana had a major part in designing both the 2000 and 3000 and it has a good range of tones as the humbuckers are coil tapped whch is kinda neat. I'd say closer to a les paul than a gibson sg

  • this thing is a lot better than the gibson sg. its not even supposed to be a copy of it if thats what you're thinking

  • ahahahaha, you got some (a lot) to learn about guitars..this guy might not play very good, but that Yamaha sg2000 eats alive the epi (I wouldn't even consider comparing these two guitars) and the gibson, anytime, anywhere. I own sg2000 sg3000 and sg600, also Les Paul Custom, Gibson not Epi, Les Paul Standard, I've owned Gibson sg standard, all 80's guitars, they come close to the sg2000 and sg3000, but not to the same level.

  • I Love this guitar.

  • Rightly dubbed: "The Les Paul Killer"

  • @EndangeredSoup It's good I'll admit that but it will never kill the les paul. It's just not possible

  • @EndangeredSoup

The SG is the most beautiful, beautiful guitar - to play, to own and to listen to (and I only have an SG300).

  • @EndangeredSoup I would actually not agree with that.

  • Hey how light is this guitar? Is it similar weight as the Gibson SG?

  • it's quite heavy. Heavier than Gibson SG, but it isn't uncarriable..

  • aww, that's too bad. It sounds so gooood!!! I personally move around alot when playing live (Angus Young style), so a lightweight guitar is imperative.

  • @soren650 Heavy guitar = Sustain!

  • Think Les Paul

  • I have a 79/80 yamaha for sale, damn nice guitars, wish I didnt have to sell

  • Check your mail please... I am very interested in getting one

  • I have a sbg500. They are amazing guitars.

    Much respect.

  • nice playing

  • Have you ever played a yamaha sg? I do not think so, I doubt you can play at all. And about the "Idiots", as you refer to other people, usually people describe their worst characteristic when they want to offend others.

  • listen man amplifiers amplify sound if its a bad soundit will sound terrible. if its an amzing sound like throught the yamaha here its going to sound amazing trust me i have played one my self its the best guitar i have ever played, such a real players guitar.

  • I highly agree because you could easily raise the tone(contour) up to 10 on that amp

  • the only thing a good amp does is provide overall clarity to your tone. The root of you tone is from your fingers and your guitar.

  • you're saying you'd get the same sound from a strat etc?

if you are, you're quite simply a wanker!!

  • VERY NICE TONE!!!

  • nice!

  • i have the same guitar... it`s very good guitar... the neck is very thin and fine

  • nice i have a sg2000 but cant play it half as well as u can

  • Congrats for the video, may i know how is the neck profile on that guitar? for instance in comparison with a Les Paul, thicker or thinner?. Best regards.

  • nice licks

  • WOO!!! *clapping*

  • Nice guitar, i love SG2000's, got a deep green coloured one myself. Now go put some trousers on.

  • Stuart Adamson had one in that colour, beautiful thing

  • That's why i bought it ! I just about had the one Stuart owned, but a member of his family got there before me :-(

  • seriously? When did it go up for sale?

  • Very nice guitar.. and playing.

  • great tone, man! hey, you should post a video of u playing some zeppelin =)

  • nice! i have a yamaha pacifica. how long have u been playing?

  • About 10 ten years... Is the pacifica cool?

  • how much did u buy for that guitar?

  • About 1300$... To the current value of american dollars. It was 12.500 danish kroner

  • here in philippines it cost only about 900-1100$

  • yeah here in denmark everything is just that more expensive. sucks.

  • and slovakia too... germany is 20% cheaper slovakia, mostly in electronics, computers. and german minimal sallary is 300% of slovak min. sallary...

  • that sounds like so frikkin much, 12.500
