This song and Edgar Winter's 'Dyin to Live' are sunken deep into my soul,..forever.If you love this song, check out Dyin to Live.Only by Edgar Winter tho.If you can get through it without crying,..let me know.Cos I sure cannot.and I have tried for many years to do it.While I am able to sing the lyrics,I cant listen to Edgar sing it without breaking down.
Fatboy Slim sampled this, but he did a good job in creating an emotional and powerful song!
Now that shitty "producer" David Guetta sampled this for his song 'Memories', everyone should really get upset at him for making the song some stupid party anthem about getting fucked up the previous night.
Good song...it's a testament to Fatboy Slim that he can sample songs and it's not immediately obvious that he's done so. Talent on both ends, what a concept.
Hey mahatmacote, dipshit. This classic recording is from an ALBUM. Something you've probably never encountered, and obviously cannot appreciate. Go dig your MP3 bitch and jam on your hip-hop. Leave us in peace.
Take no notice of them. This is the only post of this phenomenal piece of music! I can never make it to the end without a tear. Joe is a true master of his art. An amazing musician and composer, an incredible kick ass guitar player. How often do you get that in one package?!
I picked up James Gang Rides again on vinyl (like Led Zepplin it's the only way to truly experience the album). This record is amazing it's so layered and I swear there are samples all over this thing that I can't place. A must have for any fan of vinyl and classic rock. The strange thing is the most popular track funk #49, I barely listen too anymore because I've heard it so many times. The rest of the album is really good. Too bad it is so overlooked but I think people will come around.
I was 19 years old coming down from an all night acid trip with my best friend when I first heard this. Night turned into morning and it was raining. major pot party left a big tray of ashes, the rain , and I........I remember like it yesterday and miss the good times.
the reason i listened to this was because i heard that right here, right now used a sample from here, and although it like that song, this is an amazingly good song and beats fatboy slim hands down.
@beyer37 me too. exactly the same. cuz Ive always liked the beat/tune of right here right now so I checked this out. This song is one of my new favorites. really nice
Fatboy Slim sampled this song for his Right Here, Right Now tune but he didn't get permission first and he lost alot of cash from it. To add to this the James Gang own Right Here, Right Now's publishing rights.
The speed is out. This sounds terrible. Great song, one of my favourites, but the record player needs calibrating.

this version sounds 100000 times better because its taken from vinyl. i want this version
thereturnofda111 7 months ago
@thereturnofda111
Mouhahahahahahaha!
So the quality of this version is 1000000000000000000000000000000 better JUST because it's taken from vynil ? So what about that version:
/watch?v=E-s738XHV6Q
Does it sound worse because it's taken from CD? Seriously, what a bullshit snobbish statement.
Saruman38 6 months ago
@Saruman38 hahaha, what an overreaction, i was just saying it sounds nicer because of the vinyl rip, *in my opinion*

Sorry to sound like a moaning git but is there any reason why the record seems to majorly speed up and slow down?

@skechyassmofo That's the wow of wow and flutter, the bane of analog recordings. That and surface noise.

Well done, Joe & Co.

version? he only sampled! great tune, and i have to say fatboy slim did do a great job of sampling this, but this version is very moody, gota love it
DK654549 3 years ago 5
ill have to agree with you. fatboy did this tune justice
Lunkan164 3 years ago 2
Yes, FatBoy did a great job on this.
I only know this song because FatBoy sampled it and I went and looked for the sample.
But the cool thing about songs like this is, they're not completely symphonic, nor are they just band-music.
As a producer I'd say the musical brilliancy lies within those kind of songs and FatBoy choose this record well to sample from.
