  • both handed ~~~

  • @thazero13 Well spotted. It comes form the film training since all the scenic artists I know were getting RSI so I decided to learn with both hands.

  • hey what kind of paint did you use? ive noticed those large can's

  • @gewoonffdenken Hi, I use Rosco which can be a bit tricky if not used to them and LeFranc Flashe Vinyl which are similar. I will put an article on my web site (marchill.net) by this weekend. under paints.

Rosco - search Rosco then look under scenic finishes

Lefranc - search for lefranc-bourgeois and look under acrylic vinyl or Flashe

Sorry Youtube doesn't let me post links

  • @hillmarc alright thanks ill visit your site later on

  • @gewoonffdenken HI, I've put a page on my site giving paint links and alternatives for fine art. its on the front page. Can't post links here but just paste this with the usual 'h..'' prefixs below

  • Thank you for your comments -I agree and am in the process of doing some more. If you have any requests then I will try and oblige. My equipment has been greatly upgraded since then so hopefully there might be improvements.

  • fantastic painting, I just wish the camera was positioned better so that we could see the whole process properly :)

  • that is shit

  • Amazing video, by the way.

  • Do you have any advice for any aspiring seascape artists, sir?

  • @TheMauiArtist Thank you for asking. Well depends on the style you wish to paint. I like to take it down to its essence, or soul and keep it loose for the imagination so do the rest - oh and a sense of movement.. If you like my style, a good place start is with a wide flat ended brush, at least 3 fingers wide. The sort you get at a decoraters shop. You've given me an idea for some more videos. See Elderly Brush on my channel as a starting point. Thanks

  • Looks like he is messing up the already good painting

  • When I saw you using a house brush, I was expecting you to make Rolf Harris "Bom, boh, boh, bom" sounds!

  • @abudhabicat . Oddly enough my father showed him how to use one when they were both at the BBC

  • @hillmarc You mean Rolf is a cheap imitation??

  • i thought you were angry with ur painting,,, hahaha but i guess i;m wrong

  • @882pinky . Sort of . it wasn't going right.. I thought if I painted it out black then I could transform it into a night vista. Might do that actually. Thanks

  • esta del asko

  • Beautiful, seascape. Why did you paint the sky black at the end of the video ? Even though your a very good painter, Thanks for posting.

  • @62muki Hi,Thanks for your comments. I painted out black at the end because it wasn't working. Mainly the colour clash between sea and sky. After painting black I was going to transform it in to a night scene but someone interupted and that was that. I quite often paint work out - its in my film training where ones work is always painted out for so I don't tend to be precious. There is only one work I'l never touch. Hope this helps

  • @hillmarc do you speak another language?

  • @Misana I used to manage French

  • how did you make the clouds I Just love the way you paint

  • @carrielynn08 The clouds were part airbrush, part large (ish) dome hogs hair brush. The airbrush is some 30 years old and was specially aquired for use on the film Alien. it has a special adapter for dealing with acrylic paints - thanks for your comments

  • you are amazing. thank you for letting us all see your beautiful work. love.

  • what type of colour do u use?I mean whats the media,is it poster colour?whats the brand.pls inform me,i want to draw this but cant

  • @TheAzad81

Hi. I use Rosco paints - -they are for film and theater use and dry pure matt. The black is amazing and the best I've ever used. If I can't get Rosco i use Flashe, French postor paints. These are really good but take some getting used to. Lke Rosco they are very soft, great for blending and working in layers - and lovely colours. Both are highly saturated with pigment and dilute down to almost water colour transparency. Hope this helps

  • I LOVE YOUR PAINTING AND I THINK I WILL TRY THIS WITH A LARGE BRUSH..WISH ME LUCK AND U KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK AND GOD BLESS YOU..

  • @lulacole58

Thank you for your kind comments. A good start with a larger brush is to try a flat edged brush about three fingers wide. You can get these from a decoraters store. Natural bristles are best. They make life a lot easier!

  • thats a huge brush :)

    i love it

  • what the hell why did he mess up his painting he should of sell it..... dumb ass

  • @TheSonnylovato i know right it was so nice

  • Thanks,i'm waiting

  • @TheAzad81

  • @TheAzad81 HI, Yes.

I will post you a link to some images and you can choose

  • that's a kiwi scene, right?

  • @fortrosenz

Now how did you gues that?

  • @hillmarc NZ landscape is unique altho' oft compared to bits of other countries! You captured it - then I checked yr other posts and you did look kiwi. So yes I cheated a bit.

  • Sim!

  • Sim!

  • O que que aconteceu, não gostou da tela?

  • Hi, It was starting to get messy plus the colour clash mentioned above. The blacking out was in preparation for doing a night time version.

  • Why did u paint out the sky?? :O:

  • Hi. I use acrylics but Rosco's or Flashe which are much 'dryer' and softer than most.. Rosco are mainly used for film and theater work so not seen in art shops, but htey have a good web site. I've tried oils many times but can't get the effects I need, ie go from wet to dry in one stroke or the subtle layering one can get with the softer paints.

  • have you used oil colours? or acrylics??

  • Hi. Ariels shots - interesting problems, The perspective is a bit awkward so will have to think about that.

    Thanks

    M

  • Have you ever tried doing an arial shot of boats in the sea? Thats something I'm working on and I havent found any vids of that kind of a painting. You should try that!

  • Such an inspiration!

  • and it only took him a few minutes... O.O

  • crazy gay

  • hahahahhah you are my favorite person!!! hahahahahahahahha... I liked it so much!!! hahah I can't stop of laughting

  • hey man, you are crazy! :))

  • hillmarc, you are amazing!

  • Thanks for your comments.I've ben using these brushes for many years. The one is question was new in 1994 so one gets to know whatr it can do without thinking. Much of it is trying to create happy accidents. I'll be posting some more and am open to suggestions.

  • im very impressed how well you can paint with such a big brush and nail those subtle intricacies.

  • I really loved your thecniques. the results are awesome.

    Great job!

  • I blacked it out in preparation for a night time transformation - also there was a colour clash between the violets s and blue greens. Didn't help by being interupted whihc blows the concentration. In film everything you paint gets destroyed right after the shoot. Just part of the business really.

  • What a gimp ruining it in the end

  • this guy rocks

  • oh it's awesome! so refreshing, like a fall time.

  • so why did you paint out the sky at the end? i thought it the best part.

    thanx 4 posting it

  • great work!! tnx for sharing

  • many thinks.

The techniques are from working in film and theater.

    I'll hopefully post some more

  • this is a great idea!!! waiting for new videos...

  • thanks brother

  • I like to see you work with big brushes & the double loading to get your effects of wave action...good job!

  • very cool!
