Visual Pinball is a great way to prototype a layout. I just started making a Pitch n Bat machine using an arduino to control the lights/sound triggers and scoring... A lot less ambition than this behemoth!
What kind of wood is good for making things like this? I want to do a similar thing, but have no idea what kind of wood to use. Not something as ugly as plywood, but not something too expensive. Anything would help!
I love seeing people build scratch pinballs, and to see a woman do it (not to be sexist), is really HOT. You just don't see a lot of industrial engineers who are female (and I should know being one). I've had one female engineer co-worker out of 3 jobs I've had in my life.
how awesome is this!?! When was the last time a new pinball machine was built in this country. Have someone arty lined up to do the graphics yet?? Maybe the Penny Aracade boys could do something for you?? Jeri = full of WIN.
Nice Jeri, I didn't know you was making a pinball game too.. When the video showed up in my subscriptions, I thought it was Ben Heck's pinball - that is just awesome. I have a feeling that yours is going to be just as awesome :D
Man, every time I look at the cool shit that you make I want to do something like it... except I have no knowledge of circuits, or computers, or whatever the hell it is that makes things like this work.

@almondboy2 I used sanded 1/2 plywood. Recently I got some blank playfields made out of epoxy coated.

Very impressive, it takes a lot of hard work and I admire anyone that is dedicated to doing a project like this.

dont forget plenty of perimeter buttons to aim for with enough leds to crash airplanes FROM INSIDE YOUR HOUSE
also please dont use a arduino, arduinos make me cry :(
...nevermind, i was posting this comment while watching the video, a fpga is fine :)
