Yeah, muting is all on the right hand.... you just have to keep the hand very close to the strings... The only way to get it is to keep practicing...

so it's a drop C (C G C F A D) with the high e two semitones down

The original version is in a very low double drop C tuning. Which is just like double drop D but down another full step. From top to bottom it's C-G-C-F-A-C. In other words drop everything down two frets except for the top and bottom strings, drop those down four frets.
