I KNOW it's been long months already since she came "out of the woodwork", but GRACIAS, ANGELA! (Thanks Angela!).
Now we know how this song NEEDED to be sung by someone who's so talented in real life to portay someone, like Jacqui S., who's has been so talented to begin with.
I never seen this episode before. Jacqui Benton is beautiful and musically talented like her daughters. Like the singing voice. the song is pretty touching.
I really searched for this! Glad it's here! I still remember this song from THIS episode, which I taped when I was little. This really moved me. I love it!
I haven't heard this song in decades, maybe even since the day I sang it back in 1980 something! Wow, I'd forgotten how beautiful it was. Anne, you are a fantastic writer, and it was fun being Jem's mother's singing voice! Thanks for sending this to me! Angela Cappelli
@capcer I have loved your singing voice as Jerrica and Kimber's mom for decades. I'm 41 and have never forgotten this song. You have a wonderful voice
@capcer If you genuinely did this, then even a die-hard rock heart like myself will say you did an awesome job. It was a beautiful song and story overall; you should be proud of your work, and I hope you've done some other equally great pieces since then.
Its funny how people always get the Kimber-Jerrica sibling connection, but forget that Aja and Shana are actually their sisters too...well, foster sisters, but all the same.
I remember this episode. Jerrica went to Eric for the archived tapes of her mother's music but Nasty, bastardly Eric threw the tapes into the fireplace and let them burn in front of Jerrica. She slapped him and ran off crying. I think this is one of the songs she was looking for that Asha was finally able to find on computer thanks to Synergy.
If I were given to tears, I might get a lil misty myself to this song. Its a very touching song. Would love to hear that someone took its inspiration and made it complete. Would definitely be worth listening to. Thanks for the upload. ^^
Okay, granted, it is a haunting melody and all [actually looked for this upload; thank you, years of repressed memories from female relatives]. And it remains a very touching episode.
I say, it wouldn't have been as poignant if Jerrica hadn't had issues with Jacqui before she died.
Still, maybe it's the guy in me...but shedding tears? That taking it kind of far.
And we should never take ANY of our loved ones for granted, no matter who they are.
@jemismyfav I didn't get to see this show when I was a kid but I got the dvd collection. I recently saw this episode and this song especially made this 25 year old male marine cry.
the message i get is..never neglect your mother...you never know when she'll be gone....(mine has passed away and i only wish i had more time together)
Samantha Newark is the singing voice of Jem/Jerrica while Britta Philips is her speaking voice. But since this song is sung by a different character, Jacqui Benton Jem's mom, I'm not sure who is singing. Perhaps Samantha Newark in a different key than usual? Either way, it's beautiful.
Jacqui Benton is Jerrica's Mom... never knew it.. she's beautiful and talented . What a beautiful memory for Kimber and Jerrica to look back on. I can picture Olivia Newton- John being Jacqui Benton*(*The late mother of Kimber and Jerrica/Jem)
Im 25, grew up with Jem, I even know several episodes off by heart and the rest I know partially, I still am to an extent a HUGE fan of Jem and the Holograms. I miss them, but, if it wasnt for you tube I wouldnt of gotten to see the full series, I only saw parts of the series growing up, there was alot I never saw (for esample when the stingers came into it) so thank you to everyone who has uploaded Jem.
Granted, never liked the stingers, call me 'old school' but give me the original anyday.
I just reaised, even though I have heard this song many times before (and seen the episode) I never realised till now Jacqui was wearing what was probably one of the two Jem Star Earrings.
Jerrica and Kimber's father probably took that one, made a copy (or brought another?) and made the errings from the original necklace.
Its actually quite cryptic if you listen to the lyrics. Jacqui was singing as if she is already no longer on earth, which is not inconsistent with the fact that she past away unfortunately early in life.
Do you know, I listened to the lyrics just now and thought Jacqui was singing from the grave, so to speak. The song is a mixture of Jacqui's assurance of love, care and understanding for her girls, sadness for what happened to Jacqui, and for Jerrica, Kimber, Aja and Shana's loss of their mum/foster mum, who ironically was a foster girl herself.
Jerrica in tears at the end, telling her mum that she loves her too always gets me teary as well. Dazza :)
A lot of what has played on Boomerang was never on Carton Network, especially when Boomerang first started--I don't think they were affiliated at that point
I wish they played the other songs in the series, I'm surprised Jerrica didn't choose the one with her name on it.

There's something about the low audio quality from Jerrica's line and the line itself that tops off the whole thing perfectly.

This song is haunting.
If I didn't know any better I'd say she knew she was going to die soon.
Though a better reason is she wanted to make a song that would last forever, even after she was gone.
