  • I wish they played the other songs in the series, I'm surprised Jerrica didn't choose the one with her name on it.

  • There is no song that exist today that can compare to the emotions of this one song. They do not exist.

  • :(

  • Starlight, is eternal like my love...

  • There's something about the low audio quality from Jerrica's line and the line itself that tops off the whole thing perfectly.

  • It's funny that this same episode was ran again 2 years after my mother passed away. Her name was Jaqi also.

  • ;_____;

  • God I luv this cartoon! : (

  • I teared up when I first herd this song!!!! It was so beautiful.

  • I'm a cynic, and this gave me goosebumps...

  • i love this song im crying right now its so sad wow aja had some short hair lol anyways this is so sad its beutiful

  • So beautiful. It makes me cry.

  • Such a beautiful song. Jem's mother was very beautiful. <3

I want to dedicate this song to my father who just passed away.

  • I KNOW it's been long months already since she came "out of the woodwork", but GRACIAS, ANGELA! (Thanks Angela!).

Now we know how this song NEEDED to be sung by someone who's so talented in real life to portay someone, like Jacqui S., who's has been so talented to begin with.

  • Wow, she was the first Angelina Jolie...

  • I want this song to be dedicated to Gavin Roskamp and Kathy Reinig...may they rest in peace

  • This song is haunting.

If I didn't know any better I'd say she knew she was going to die soon.

Though a better reason is she wanted to make a song that would last forever, even after she was gone.

  • @Nionivek Sadly, Jem's mother did die before Jem and the Holograms became famous. :(

  • I never seen this episode before. Jacqui Benton is beautiful and musically talented like her daughters. Like the singing voice. the song is pretty touching.

  • this just just about made me cry :(

  • @mommak10 Me too! I'm over here tearing up!

  • wow. this song would have seemed eerie

  • One person does not have Starlight in their heart. How can you not like this song? It is gorgeous!

  • i'm very proud to say that i was named after Jerrica (:

  • I really searched for this! Glad it's here! I still remember this song from THIS episode, which I taped when I was little. This really moved me. I love it!

  • I haven't heard this song in decades, maybe even since the day I sang it back in 1980 something! Wow, I'd forgotten how beautiful it was. Anne, you are a fantastic writer, and it was fun being Jem's mother's singing voice! Thanks for sending this to me! Angela Cappelli

  • @capcer I have loved your singing voice as Jerrica and Kimber's mom for decades. I'm 41 and have never forgotten this song. You have a wonderful voice

  • @capcer You sang in Jem?! Small youtube!

  • @capcer i loved Jem and im only 21 years old!! your voice is beautiful!!

  • @capcer YOUR JACQUI??!?!?!?!??!

    <3

    I

    LOVE

    YOU

  • @capcer You did a very good job singing this, then!

  • @capcer If you genuinely did this, then even a die-hard rock heart like myself will say you did an awesome job. It was a beautiful song and story overall; you should be proud of your work, and I hope you've done some other equally great pieces since then.

    Kudos and blessings, Lady

  • @capcer I cried over this episode, I'm 19.

  • @capcer I heard this song and it just made my heart melt. Btw, it sounds like this was recorded in 1987. Great work! :-

  • What a beautiful and yet sad song it is. Makes me miss my Dad. *tear*

  • This song made me cry the first time I heard it. RIP Grandma :(

  • Synergy is jem's mother;-)B-)

  • JERRICA BENTON's mother! Not jems!

  • i love this song. it tells the girls just how much she loves all her girls blood or non blood and will always be their for all of them

  • Its funny how people always get the Kimber-Jerrica sibling connection, but forget that Aja and Shana are actually their sisters too...well, foster sisters, but all the same.

  • the necklace that Jackie is wearing is the same as the earings that Jerrica has on

  • what was the name of this episode?

  • It is called 'Out of the Past'.

  • explotaba la benton

  • That was beautiful song and video.

  • I remember this episode. Jerrica went to Eric for the archived tapes of her mother's music but Nasty, bastardly Eric threw the tapes into the fireplace and let them burn in front of Jerrica. She slapped him and ran off crying. I think this is one of the songs she was looking for that Asha was finally able to find on computer thanks to Synergy.

  • If I were given to tears, I might get a lil misty myself to this song. Its a very touching song. Would love to hear that someone took its inspiration and made it complete. Would definitely be worth listening to. Thanks for the upload. ^^

  • @MartyP26 I confess, I did in fact get a bit misty-eyed. Why don't they make cartoons like this anymore?? Drama, glamor, and all the goods!

  • Okay, granted, it is a haunting melody and all [actually looked for this upload; thank you, years of repressed memories from female relatives]. And it remains a very touching episode.

I say, it wouldn't have been as poignant if Jerrica hadn't had issues with Jacqui before she died.

Still, maybe it's the guy in me...but shedding tears? That taking it kind of far.

And we should never take ANY of our loved ones for granted, no matter who they are.

  • love this song. thanks for uploading this is one of my faves.

  • This is a really beautiful song and it nearly makes me cry every time.

  • same here....always brings tears to my eyes

  • @jemismyfav I didn't get to see this show when I was a kid but I got the dvd collection. I recently saw this episode and this song especially made this 25 year old male marine cry.

  • Maybe the most beautiful song in the whole series

  • what ep was this??

  • It makes me feel sick thinking about how Jeri treated her Mom not 1 hour before she died...

  • the message i get is..never neglect your mother...you never know when she'll be gone....(mine has passed away and i only wish i had more time together)

  • oh my, and i'm sorry about your mother, zoidburg111.

  • thanx stefano....i appreciate that.....

  • I'm so sorry to hear that, :(.

  • I can't get enought of JEM! I love this song so much!!!

  • That's Aja, she was a tomboy as a kid.

  • Is that Samantha Newark singing? Her voice sounds similar to Jem/Jerrica's speaking voice.

  • Samantha Newark is the singing voice of Jem/Jerrica while Britta Philips is her speaking voice. But since this song is sung by a different character, Jacqui Benton Jem's mom, I'm not sure who is singing. Perhaps Samantha Newark in a different key than usual? Either way, it's beautiful.

  • nada britta is the singing voice and sam is the speaking voice do your research

  • never knew this episode..........powerful....... and explains jerrica's natural talent. Thanks for the post. moving !

  • Oh wow

  • This is one of my favourite songs.. that just happened to me with my dad x_x

  • Jacqui Benton is Jerrica's Mom... never knew it.. she's beautiful and talented . What a beautiful memory for Kimber and Jerrica to look back on. I can picture Olivia Newton- John being Jacqui Benton*(*The late mother of Kimber and Jerrica/Jem)

  • i miss her everyday

  • this aired when my mother was alive...just a lesson...never take your mother fro granted

  • i feel like im gonna cry now.....

  • If you'll excuse me, think I'm too...

  • Im 25, grew up with Jem, I even know several episodes off by heart and the rest I know partially, I still am to an extent a HUGE fan of Jem and the Holograms. I miss them, but, if it wasnt for you tube I wouldnt of gotten to see the full series, I only saw parts of the series growing up, there was alot I never saw (for esample when the stingers came into it) so thank you to everyone who has uploaded Jem.

Granted, never liked the stingers, call me 'old school' but give me the original anyday.

  • What an incredible voice ; so SEXY!...

  • it's my favorite "Jem & the holograms" song!!! *.*

  • What a beautiful song.

  • I'm also 29, and I'm in tears. Yeah. :x

  • me too! long live jem! jemcon 09, anyone?

    :p

    (but seriously)

  • Yea here in Australia too!

  • if you mean jemcon in detroit, my friends and i are totally there!

  • I just reaised, even though I have heard this song many times before (and seen the episode) I never realised till now Jacqui was wearing what was probably one of the two Jem Star Earrings.

Jerrica and Kimber's father probably took that one, made a copy (or brought another?) and made the errings from the original necklace.

  • That would be a good theory. Well thought!

  • Its actually quite cryptic if you listen to the lyrics. Jacqui was singing as if she is already no longer on earth, which is not inconsistent with the fact that she past away unfortunately early in life.

  • Do you know, I listened to the lyrics just now and thought Jacqui was singing from the grave, so to speak. The song is a mixture of Jacqui's assurance of love, care and understanding for her girls, sadness for what happened to Jacqui, and for Jerrica, Kimber, Aja and Shana's loss of their mum/foster mum, who ironically was a foster girl herself.

Jerrica in tears at the end, telling her mum that she loves her too always gets me teary as well. Dazza :)

  • aww. the 70s.

  • so sweet ¡_¡

  • jem wuz on bommerang so it wuz on cartoonnetwork once apon a time?????

  • A lot of what has played on Boomerang was never on Carton Network, especially when Boomerang first started--I don't think they were affiliated at that point

  • i'm 29 and i still cry alittle everytime--rest in peace grandmother

  • Me, too. I'm also 29 and I always tear up when I hear this song. :)

  • I'm 29 too.

  • This song was from my favorite episode. Do you have the whole episode to upload? That would be great :)

  • this epidsode is in 3 parts tpe in

    jem out of the past

  • this beat is very similar to Jem's song "Our love makes you beautiful to me"

  • don't they look so adorable as little girls?

  • do you have the entire episode that this came from?? if so can you upload it?

  • This song made me a little sad. Can you upload First Love too?
