Children everywhere hooked on shouting "faggot" as they shoot guns on COD, I guess one might grow up to think being a soldier might be awesome... this song is not a "blaming video games" case for me exactly, more like letting little kids think the best of life is the glorified violence with no insight, tolerance, acceptance, empathy. I like "You know how hate takes shape, don't hide those guilty eyes / you gave us guns for toys, imposed beliefs then pride"
why sohuld I not be proud to be part of my portion of "arbitrarily drawn land". Goddamnit I grew up here, I vote, I live, I have every right to be proud of where im from, its shaped me and I've shaped it, it protects me and I'll protect it. Go Canada.
smug bastards pretending like they're too good to take pride in their country, but in the end your country is part of who you are, and you sohuld damn well recognize it.
@mustardnight However I, and they, don't believe this means you're 'better' than any other one person. I'm patriotic to Britain, but I don't believe my country's word is law for all.
@mustardnight Why should you? Nationalism is cancerous. I can understand about being proud of the community you grew up with, the ones who DID shape your life, but the entire country?
If you're proud of your country, you should be willing to help those in the most need. In America, that philosphy is crapped on. Think of how Soliders are treated after returning from war to protect America. Or how the poor are always the ones who get the brunt of tax cuts, etc.
Not gonna lie, this is an excellent song. The lyrics are excellent and the sound is very interesting. And I normally listen to alot of metal so for something like this to stand out to me takes alot. Bravo. :)
What's wrong with the idea of a nation? It protects (generally that is; I know that there are SOME exceptions) it's people, secures them with rights, allows for intellectual advancement, and people would be fighting significantly more without them. And shut up about how the USA sucks; it's got it's problems, but it's better than 98% of every other country.
There is nothing wrong with the idea of a nation but there is something wrong with the state of ours. People are critical of the US because of the disregard for our rights and laws by the ruling elite whose sole motivation is profit, not our well-being. Sure there is no hunger, war in the US and we all enjoy a comfy existence but that does not mean that things are going as they should. The level of corruption in the government and corporate world is staggering and MUST be reversed.
Good, evil, pure, and corrupt are all in the eye of the beholder. People of nations may be pitted against another country, using propaganda, but America was originally created by men who were considered terrorists, using their tool of "patriotism" which is just another face for propaganda to wear. Its really simple, however you feel, is the way it is.... for you, not others. Godzilla licks whale balls.
I think that I admire these songs so much because I can relate to the message in them. It's like they see the world the same way I do. Especially on "Get Seduced", it would make me sick to my stomach to have my life recorded by strangers broadcast to the world to judge.
I was insulted by a 18 year old who's favorite band is otep. Who the fuck listens to that shit. I saw them a couple times and I could not wait till the next band played. Oh cruel world. I am going to go kill myself now with some tar and coke lol ... Wait I should be a little more sensitive towards people who probably live at there parents house and are not even out of high school.
I'm not gonna defend their taste in music. Hell, I can't stand Otep. Sounds terrible, however, your over the top insults made you look like a tool. Just thought you should know.
It's funny you talk of "being proud" of certain individuals "from your nation". Afterall, this song is against nationalism, patriotism, & imperialism. Your pride for your state's simply a smaller version of nationalism. Rather than pride certain individuals from your arbitrarily drawn lands, pride all of the human race, since we're all equal and 1 species. I pride Fredrick Douglas, Ghandi, Mossadegh, Chomsky, and so forth! To me these boundaries don't exist, so take your hometown & shove it.
competition is a part of life...sorry that your ideological views that all people are equal is wrong....things pan out in the exact way they should eventually....i don't agree with alot of the faints views but overall they are a really good band....Chomsky is a boss
@Ohkto How about for honoring and cherishing values like freedom and democracy? A bunch of dudes died so that we here in America can have the freedom to shit on their sacrifice, and they'd prolly do it again. It's our right, but saying that patriotism is inherently evil is just fucking stupid and disrespectful.
@shmuckmuck Don't try to exaggerate what I said. I said patriotism isn't useful for MUCH else. Patriotism isn't inherently evil. A love for one's country is good if the country deserves it. However, most people love their country even if it doesn't deserve it (for instance, the USA today. Two words: Patriot Act). And when people love their country unconditionally, then that is a very powerful tool for propagandists to work with, and it doesn't really serve any other purpose.
I just want to dance with you.

i love how on every song on youtube, there's some sort of flow from "music" to "nationalism/hatred/war/racism." on every song. lmao.
or there's so many hate comments towards other users.
or the word "n***er" a thousand times.
-_- youtube is for music, not for political standpoint arguments. shut the eff up and listen. If you don't enjoy the music, leave the page.
Isoya22 4 months ago in playlist the faint
@Isoya22 this song is about nationalism, so it makes sense that people are talking about it in the comments.
and youtube is not for music. it's for sharing video content, much of which is for sparking conversations over issues like this.

I agree completely; I'm just saying that comparatively it's not that bad. It definitely has a lot of work to be done to fix itself though.
