Some years back, I invested quite a bit of money with a Company called "Ballarat Goldfields" and I lost the lot. There is alot of Gold left in Ballarat but it is deep underground. There isn't much alluvial gold left. Good luck anyway. Regards, VB Ed.

However, when we returned the metal detector from where we rented, the owner told us that there are people who find gold with metal detectors are a job and get about $50,000 to $80,000 per year. He said that it has to be treated as a job, record where there have been and where they had finds.
