I grew up with Whitney and now feel so jealous of Beyonce's success this year (though I have to admit, Diana Ross fans were behaving in a similar way to Whitney in the '80s). The problem with Beyonce is music today is much more "made for success" with technology the main culprit. But hopefully as Beyonce will keep getting better and better and become another Diana Ross/Whitney Houston/Mariah Carey.

She would have been a foot note had she come out as a solo artist in the 90's with the likes of: Whitney, Mariah, Celine, Brandy, Monica, Toni, ect. Beyonce is a great shake dancer, but her singing is good, not great. T o be honest, both Kelly Rowland and Letoya Luckett both have better voices than Beyonce, especially Kelly. If Kelly had all the proper training Beyonce has had, then she would be head and shoulders better.

Don't wish your diva(s) away. We lost Lena Horne today (early Whitney interviews mentioned her looks had the attractiveness of her). Dionne Warwick and Diana Ross continue to tour and are still deeply admired by their fans. Whitney is only half of Lena Horne's passing age, so there still could be plenty of time left with Whitney! She is just like any other oldies act- they stop getting radio play, but their albums still sell well by loyal fans and still gross big figures at tours.

I grew up with Whitney and now feel so jealous of Beyonce's success this year (though I have to admit, Diana Ross fans were behaving in a similar way to Whitney in the '80s). The problem with Beyonce is music today is much more "made for success" with technology the main culprit. But hopefully as Beyonce will keep getting better and better and become another Diana Ross/Whitney Houston/Mariah Carey.

I feel in the long run when big musical encyclopedia surface, Whitney will be remembered as more of a "20th Century artist" with the Ella, Billie, Diana, Aretha, and Mariah, while Beyonce is really the first true "21st Century diva" to me (even though she was in DC for part of the '90s). Bey already has a formal biography published; expect her to win Grammys and AMAs this year, good luck Whitney (already shut out of the AMAs).

People sit around and talk about Whitney like they don't have problems of their own. She is who she is and she don't sugar coat anything for anyone. But one thing you can't deny her of is her voice. The woman is bad. Can't no one tell me that they don't listen to her cause if they didn't they would not be on this site. Think about it!!!
