@kavaxi There are clips on YouTube that have 20 million hits... I got control of the 'Darude' channel name pretty late, someone else had it and I needed to present my case etc to YT, and they gave it to me after they confirmed who I was etc etc, but I needed to start from scratch. One thing that I do find weird on YT is that if you search for something it doesn't necessarily take you to official pages first, but it's based on numbers or relevance or something.

@EmmsAccount just listened to that track prior to watching this and I see your point. I'd also say Smile by Future Breeze sounds similar. This was very popular at the time, so I suppose others followed it's example?!

@jamieharrison7 If you asked me, I'd politely decline to comment on the Future Breeze track, because my mom told me to keep my mouth shut if I didn't have anything good to say. Cosmic Gate's is similar in style, yes, but doesn't directly feel like it's ripping something off of someone else's track. Sandstorm was released 1999.

@darude I can't help feeling I've said something I shouldn't and I certainly didn't mean anything negative. Sandstorm stands as an absolute anthem (I own all three Darude singles released in the UK and the album - with DVD/cd rom, in fact I also bought at least two "remix" 12" singles of Sandstorm and the regular 12" of both Sandstorm & Feel The Beat. I only discovered Smile many years later & to me it just seemed it was obviously influenced by Sandstorm>>

'Smile' would've stood on it's own just fine without being "influenced by" my track, I like it otherwise, and I did like some other FB tracks and remixes before I heard that version of 'Smile'.

Sandstorm was released on 12 June 2000 in the UK & I remember being disappointed that it "only" reached number 3 (curse Black Legend & Sonique had just had three weeks at number one.) I'm not too keen on the idea of a dubstep version I must say. I'm not saying this because it's you (maybe I am) but Sandstorm really is in the soundtrack of my life - video's great too! I'd be gutted if I thought I'd offended you ;o)
