MJandRKelly: the foot pedal connects to the lower spring with a chain. the chain length is adjustable. shorten the chain length to the lower spring, it will stretch the spring to pull on the latch and release the throwing arm. if it is too long it will not pull on the spring enough to release the throwing arm latch. i think i have mine set to about 3 chain links. good luck.
