  • I am just curious to know when to started to belief in that be happy concept. I am speaking with ration mind and thinking without disrespecting you. because it is very to hard practice what u preach. looking for hearing from you rinpoche la

  • Avatar

  • you are a fag.

  • Happiness in intelligent people is the rarest thing i know

  • happiness is a warm gun

  • In nature, everything is harmony. We stay under the sun and we complain it is hot. In reality, the feeling of hot is real, but do we need to complain about it? During winter, the sun ray is like a diamond. During summer, the sun ray is like fire. Fire and diamond is just our thought or wish. In reality, sun ray is just sun ray, perfect in reality. It is our mind that mind us, not the nature. Nature is always perfect and fair. Because you don't realize it, you complain. Think about it!

  • 18 people don't understand what this means

  • Cannot believe there is such negativity on such a positive clip.

  • First time I've clicked like on youtube and stumbleupon within 2 seconds.

  • :)

  • Utterly delightful. This was just what I needed. Thank you oh wise and helpful poster of this clip. The more peeps that see this the better.

  • "be happy.

    everything is ultimately perfect.

and all the problem and you or i or anybody have

    is temporary and relative

i can garantee you for this.

    so please, be happy

    and be harmonious with everything,

    within and without.

    all the best."

    just good :)

  • Wise words. Great attitude to have.

  • i agree with Lukaara how COULD anyone dislike this?

  • Why would anyone dislike this?

  • Wie es dann in der Praxis aussehen wird, sieht man.

  • @Redcaster916 Buddhist do not see death as the end of one's existence, this life in merely one of many you will experience, so any suffering you will experience in this life, hunger, depression or lung cancer, is truly temporary as it will all end when you die, then you are reborn, and get to start anew, but with your soul wiser for this life. Also, in the grand scheme of the universe, we are nothing, a blip, so while we have the chance, regardless of your religious belief, be happy.

  • made me relapse

  • thank you :)

  • its hard for me to be happy bcus my life turns shit since i move to australia ><

  • @Don0chi0cho this is gonna sound crazy but go do some charity work, it'll make you feel better, now matter how low you are, it's an old trick i learned, just try it, isn't that place a big mess still? i'm afraid to look

  • lovely !

  • @Aprilshowersss

didnt know homeless people could afford computers to stumble on.or an ISP at that.

maybe instead of complaining about a guy that is only trying to help people, you should stop stumbling, find a job, and pull yourself out of the mess your in. then your problems will have become temporary and relative.

as for the cancer cant really say anything about that but half the battle is staying optimistic. and its suspected cancer you don't even know for sure

  • @707Jawa You are right. Rinpoche only helps. But do not judge others unless you know for sure their situation. It is difficult to experience the wisdom of happiness without the proper method. You have a good heart. Open it for those less fortunate.

  • @707Jawa Im not homeless but I am living in a foreign country (in the process of immigrating) and am not allowed to work. I moved here to be with my husband and he got fired from his job a few months ago and has been feverishly trying to find work since. He has cerebral palsy so its extremely hard from him to get hired. I cannot leave the country and cannot work. We have enough money to pay our rent until next month and then we will be homeless. We have kept internet to help in job hunting.

  • @707Jawa and as far as the suspected cancer. I have a red scaly growth on my leg that has been changing and growing for about a yea.recently the muscles under that area of skin has started to ache in a strange way and besides all that there are odd symptoms all over my body. Whether it is cancer or not, I am sick, but I cannot afford a doctor. Being in this country also means that at the ER I have to pay upfront. Last year I tried to go for chest pain and I was told 400 upfront. I had to leave.

  • so easy to sit in a cozy room with a full belly and say this kinda stuff

  • @Aprilshowersss I'm homless have cancer and don't have enough money to but a meal.........should I be happy?

  • Comment removed

  • @Aprilshowersss Renounce the self-grasping; then you will experience happiness no matter the circumstances.

  • @mpopean I suppose if I stopped caring about myself and those whom I love then nothing could bother me and I could, therefor be happy no matter how cold hungry or lonely I was... but that is not an existence worth wanting imo. I love life and simple comforts. All I need for happiness is to not be in pain, food, shelter, and to be with the people I love. I dont need anything fancy. I just need the basics. Without them, I am not living but slowly dying. This is not something I can be happy with.

  • @Aprilshowersss When you stop caring about yourself, those who you love, and all others there is no hope left for you. One should always care. I have no intention to patronize you; I simply found that to actually be the truth from my own experience. The situation you described is very difficult. Are you affiliated with any religious institution that would help?

  • @Aprilshowersss I'm on the brink of homelessness, have multiple health concerns (including suspected cancer) and no access to health care and absolutely no money. I have been heating out of soup kitchens for months. I know exactly the the feeling that you have.

Depending on how you view life you may or may not be happy. I just sometimes gets under my skin when fortunate people try to teach some existential thing that you can only really appreciate given a fortunate set of circumstances.

  • @Redcaster916 Yes, you should. The question is: will you?

  • @mpopean what kind of a stupid question is that? you think a person who has cancer (massive pain) is homless and hungry has anything to be happy about? your sitting in a warm cozy house with a hot meal next to you and you want to teach people how to be happy? go ahead, explain in detail how one is suppose to be happy about sleeing under a bridge with an empty stomach with massive pain in his chest that won't go away. please take your time.

  • @Redcaster916 I can take my time if you are really looking for an answer. You assume much. Especially about me. In fact, I would have been surprised if you didn't. But you described well the situation. Almost like you've been through. Obviously not, though. However, when some years ago somebody said the same thing to me I simply asked to be shown how instead of arguing. After all, I had nothing left to lose. I am open to share if that is of any use to you. Thank you.

  • @mpopean I'm not arguing, just stating the truth. Please take you time, I would love to hear your answer.

  • @Redcaster916 Physical suffering we are subjected to. Suffering of the mind is a choice we make

  • Comment removed

  • @lapopofighting so people with depression bring that onto them selfs or is out society set up to do that to people? this world is all about competition every where you look, from religions to cultures to careers and everything in between. There's no FUN in this world because if your don't suceed in this money game you are look down upon, when people get rejected people fall into depression so this message of "BE HAPPY" is one of the dumbest things I have heard.

  • @Redcaster916 It's not one's fault that they are depressed, but they haven't realized that they can be happy, and the actual perfect nature of our existence. The ego is what creates the pain and suffering as it longs and desires. But we are infinite and our finite self and ego creates this suffering. Who we really are is perfect bliss. My mother grew up with a father who was a child molester, a drunk, and he nearly strangled my grandmother to death in front of her eyes. Mom chooses to be happy.

  • @lapopofighting There are many things wrong with this message, he said that all problems are temporary and that's just not true. Cancer isn't temporary and lung cancer will not leave you until you die. To be happy in this physical life one must have many things line up depending on the culture they were raised. It's a lot easier for a buddhist monk not to care about money for example but a Japanese business man will comite suicide if he loses his job.

  • If you believe in a cosmic soul then your life is temporary and when you die you no longer have that problem. Also a business man (regardless of ethnic background) is living in the present and only thinking of earthly things--this message is given by someone who has transcended the need for most material wealth. I mean you gotta eat and have monk robes but you don't need a car.

  • @Redcaster916 All in all, H.E. Situ Rinpoche's message is an ideal; it is meant to aid one in the disassociation of one's troubles and the future. Certainly, one can continue living should they lose their job, it is physically possible while the individual may see it as quite impossible due to cultural tradition, etc. And yes, cancer is cruel and potent, however it does have an end; one just begins either to prepare for being a survivor and possible remission or they attempt to cope with death.

  • @Redcaster916 His message is not one to be dissected and analyzed. It is a "despair not, take my word, you will feel better" flotation of compassion to those who may be struggling. And perhaps that struggle takes time, perhaps it goes away, perhaps it does not, however the Rinpoche merely strives in the simplicity of the message to effect the most profound introspection possible. It is free compassion and genuinely felt assurance, why deny it? A friend is someone who wishes one only happiness.

  • @Redcaster916 All problems are transient, and this is true. Circumstances are inherently neutral, void of value judgment. It is the conscious self which projects positive or negative attachments onto these circumstances. What the Rinpoche is entreating you to do is to understand your suffering as an egocentric filtering of the true nature of things. If you consider things independent of this self, however, you are left to understand the intrinsic harmony of pure undiscriminating consciousness.

  • @Redcaster916 , Not only is our job and societal roles temporary, but our lifetime is temporary too :)

  • Everything is empty. Earth is empty Heaven is empty. Everything is empty. So, "Be Happy".

  • Thank you.

  • It doesn't get any simpler and any more profound than that !

    mature.

  • Don't worry be happy! nice short vid

  • why people discussing here?? just be happy! :)

  • _/\_ Thank you Rinpoche OM Mani Padme Hum

  • I think you really deceive yourself by having saying "That". If you do think you are "Buddishtic", then I do believe you understand the "Law Of Karma".

  • What I wrote 19 mins ago is a response to saunapool24.

  • watch this

    watch?v=0SXHV0aW0ng

    dualism is the enemy

  • saunapool24, I think it is worth to understand why the Tibetan Government made ban over the recognition of Shamarpa Lineage for 150 years. It was H.H. 16 Karmapa's generosity and kindness that he requested Tibetan Government to withdraw its ban. Yet Shamarpa did the same thing which he's done it to Tibetan government 150 years ago.

  • tears flow as i listen to your message

    om mani padme hung

    in faith forever,julie christine/LibertyUSA

  • thank you, Papa.

  • Daddy does it again . . .

  • try telling this to a starving child who has aids and who probably wont live long enough to see his/her 10th birthday

  • Yeah, they probably won't hear it. Hopefully they are deaf.

  • XFGHDFJ

  • Thank you Rinpoche!

  • If I could have come up with that, does that mean I'm a Lama?

  • first of all, he's not a lama, and second, it's not a matter of who can come up with the best shit to say, it's a matter of not understanding anything.

  • If you want to make someone angry, tell him a lie; if you want to make him furious, tell him the truth.

All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed, second it is violently opposed, and third, it is

    accepted as self-evident.

  • kinda....panglossian.

  • Please support by watching their u tube

There are many singers imprisoned for singing cultural and peace song ie Sherten, Jam Yankyi, Monlam, Drolma Gyab and more.Namkha is in Prison for singing this peace song. He is not political. This dictatorship regime is the worst in whole world. Communist China is the only country that imprisons and execute singer. This is crazy, we must stop the bullying and harassment to those voiceless. China still continues to violate international HR rights law.

  • Good to have it on youtube. Thanks!

  • i too have been very down and i have previously installed stumble but this video came up right at a very down time. I needed so much to hear this message. Thank you

  • if you want to hear more inspiring messages by TaiSitu check out BUDDHA BY NATURE on my channel. youtube/HHK17 .

    Enjoy!

tOM (the maker of the BE HAPPY video)

  • I have been so depressed for a long time. I installed a stumble program on computer and this was first video come up. it gave me shivers down my back and a tear down my face. I believe the Eternal talks to us in many forms and this was a message to me . as anyone who needs it. I felt a great peace after this and watched it over a few more times. Thank you so much.

  • @Unityspirit49 the first vid i stumbled is how to hotwire a car. what are you saying?

  • @Unityspirit49 Go buddhism!

  • A lovely message! Worth thinking about; worth acting on.

  • "Being happy" in the face of terrible misery and even pain does not mean that you deny what is happening to you, and become blind. It means you SEE clearly the way things are, ACCEPT THEM, and try to remain calm and accepting, and yes, happy, in the face of all that. For some people who are not deeply into buddhism, this sounds like a superfluous message, but this is the WESTERN view and thus they do not understand it! It does not mean deny reality or what is happening to you.

  • Live a movie.. Dont forget to bring popcorn

  • Essence of Blessing

  • I was only referring to the MESSAGE, it's a very honest & simple one, to try to be happy in the face of terrible situations, because they're only temporary, and all things come to pass. It's a good message that people need to hear, sometimes. Just over this one little 33 second clip, you're on a crusade to smear his reputation...you must really be angry. I feel sorry for you.

  • well said! :)

  • well said, xeokym! :)

  • I have NO clue what you're rambling on about. If you have an issue with this particular monk, then that is your problem. If you are truly a buddhist you would know about loving your fellow man, not holding a grudge, nor harboring anger, but apparently you've forgotten! I'm not even sure what you're accusing him of, but the politics you're so upset about have got you all wrapped up in them, and they're making you very BITTER.

  • How can we get FREE TIBET if we have so much trouble with this men. He splitted the Karma Kagyü and gives us so a show. In that case I can not be happy. I hope so much that one day the truth will come to this sangha. H.H. 17th. Karmapa Trinlay Thaye Dorje is the one who opens minds and hearts and he do not make politics like the 16 Karmapa. He is so wonderfull, realy you should meet him and in that moment you will feel the truth! Karmapa Chenno OM AH HUNG SO HA!

  • I do not like that video, it is like drug culture. Be hapyy ha ha... yes I am happy. In Tibet is so much problkems and he speak´in so an barbie style. What´s about the strong tibetan people where is the power? Kalu Rinpoche Karmapa and all the strong Lamas and now this.

  • shuttup Matrose, you just don't get it. It's negative attitudes like yours that defeat the whole purpose of this kind of message. Sometimes people just need to hear it put in a simple manner. The whole POINT is that yes, Tibet, just like everyone everywhere, has very SEVERE problems, but that can be overcome, because they're always TEMPORARY, and we all have the RIGHT to happiness. You didn't even bother using your brain at all!

LOL "Barbie style?" You're the plastic one...get a life.

  • Bingo Ha ha I got you. Look this men has splitted the Karma Kagyü Sangha and he was panished by law in India. He smuggled endangered species. In Germany the animal safer demonstrated against him. Here in free Germany this men ist nothing. From 120 Karma Kagyü Centers, 115 Centers do not invite him. they follow the red hat lama Sharmapa. Sharmapa is the 2. highest lama of the karma kagyü and he have to say who is the Karmapa and not the Dalai Lama and not the Situpa. But you are afraid of trueth

  • @Matrose1960 - You think Germany is more free than India ? In Switzerland the germans are not liked for being rude, loud and all knowing. So be humble and keep your mouth shut.

    Regards from Switzerland.

  • and incidentally...you don't SOUND very happy. A sarcastic, stuck-up attitude like yours makes you sound very jealous, angry, and UNhappy.

  • No realy not I am a founder in the west I was building a buddhist center and many of the old tibetan arn now reborn in the west and we western follow the sharmapa. we do not like the bad politics. we are going to universities and we are intelligent enough to see how the things are. But Tibeten Politics are so unbelievably. Look in the 70th the dalai lama gave a conferenz to alle ligne leaders of tibetan schools. and the dalai lama want to make rime. But Karmapa say no And what does Situpa do now

  • very funny that you're saying SITU split the Kagyus... Sharmapa, and that dutch boxer OLE (probably your hero) did... but no worries ... time will heal that separation...

just don't say that "we westerners follow the Sharmapa"

    have a good day

  • You do not know anything about the tibetean history. But if it is funny for you, than be happy and how ever you are a poor man, you do not meet the real karmapa, only samsara holywood from this people. what ever I wish all the best to you and hope you will have a wonderfull day an meet the karmapa. And a little statistic, it is real that the most western karma kagü follow the Thaye Doeje Karmapa. Living in a free world.

  • The true Karmapa is not Thaye Dorje but he is truly a good Lama. That's main point for you as a Dharma practioner?

  • Hey 16 Karmapa was a Kampa and I have meet them, they are also good boxers, strong men and realy nice people. I love them very much. And a lot of the tibetean are now reborn in the free west. And we are happy here, our centers are full of wonderfull people and they are so wild! realy phantastic. I think also Lama Ole is one of this strong Kampa. And if all tibetean was like him, ha ha we would have free tibet now. So sorry 16. Karmapa was his teacher and 16. Karmapa was a whise man. Ciao.

  • Wunnerful. I mean it... wunnerful!!!

  • VISIT HHK17 for more

  • This is not just a man, he is 12th Tai Situpa and in tibetan Community highly respected.

  • i dig it

  • well said.

  • Amazing! So simple and yet so profound!

  • Namaste

  • Rinpoche la, Long life wishes. Hope to meet you

  • okay

i need to befriend some buddhist monks because the people i know never talk like this.

and i like to hear it.

  • Situpa Kjenno!

  • Thank You for this ReMinder

  • This is why the Tibetan culture needs to be preserved. My stomach is in a knot over the current protests, and this video really helps put things in perspective.

  • I really needed to hear that. Thank you. :D

  • Very well said dude. ;)

You just missed to explain how we in that case can be aware of that happiness it self isn't temporary and relative as well.. -As everything else in life is temporary and relative, happiness is temporary and relative as well.

  • That seems to defeat the point of this video! Doesnt it? I dunno you have confused me a bit! But the point is, we should be happy.

I may have misunderstood what you wrote.

  • Tai Situpa is absolutley wonderful! I love this message. Thank you Rinpoche for this perfect piece of wisdom. *Om Mani Peme Hung*!

  • He seems like a kind man! Quite profound too, though simple (obviously simple can be profound!) Just my opinions.

  • Long life to the Kenting Naya Tang Nyontse Geshetse TAI SITUPA!

  • be happy =D

  • it is easy to say be happy!

  • I am grateful for the blessing

  • WACH THE NEW MOVIES FROM THE DALAI LAMA

  • ok... it is'nt so easy to be happy all the time. odd

  • I dont think it matters which Karmapa you choose to follow for your path toward enlightenment. As long as he leads you and guides you in your practice toward Nirvana and helps you become a better human being then he has accomplished his dharma and so have you. So please stop the bashing.

  • easier said than to forget all your problems and be happy. I need a miracle.

  • try forcing a smile even if you are not happy/feeling it. did you feel any difference? it does marvel to the body.

  • Believe me I do that all the time and yes your happy for awhile but the problems never go away. I guess I just need to deal with it like I always have. No miracle there.

  • life is simple but we humans make it complicated.

  • True, but I don't think there is anybody on earth whose life is simple. What else can you do but to live it out while you wish for a miracle. That's all. And life goes on.

  • i can sense your pain. i wish you all the best and hope things improve for ya. but you have to make the effort and change your perception. waiting for a miracle= low probability of this happening. i know its easier said than done and life isnt simple and carefree for all. this is samsara after all.

  • I know what to do and what my problems are. It's just that it's going to be quite differcult. I will not disgust samsara though. Thanks for the advice ikhamo. One request! Could you just pray for me.Thx.

  • i just did. hope the power of the prayer/energy reaches out to you. atleast i tried:) all the best.

  • Thank you my friend ikhamo. I'll be in touch. Ciao!

  • What are your problems at the moment, i.e. what is causing the pain.

I am 27 I am not that wise I think I might grow wiser as I get older. I am going through a slight depression at the mo I am trying to live with it with acceptance to a degree (I already tried normal methods of getting rid of it)

  • My mum studied Chinese Astrology under a traditional Chinese Astrological Master, and she told me that when you are approx. 27/28, you go through a bad period in your life known as a 'Saturn return.' I believe this, considering that anyone I know who is 27/28 (or older) has been through a rough time during their 'Saturn return.' Try to think something positive everyday and it will help you in the long run. Keep in mind that suffering is impermanent. May positivity prevail for you! :-)

  • I'm not sure that is it because I have some ideas about what is causing the depression and they are specific (ish). I dont feel here is the place to go into it though. Thanks for reply anyway.

  • Saturn return doesn't just mean unexplained problems arising, it means specific problems with a cause arising in your life.

well, I wish you all the best. We all go through these things. I really hope you find happiness. :-)

  • Thank you! I dont envision this problem will be here for a really long time. I am feeling maybe one or two years it might last. I will surprised if it lasts a lot longer.
