  • Liked it, added it to playlist, and am amazed I found something I could agree with. I got here because I was looking for something ridiculously funny, but got this instead.

  • Richard Dobson is hella creepy around 0:18.

  • @BootyFister Totally agree! Lurking like he's about to stab Mac Young. I thought he was going to do that to demonstrate the surprise/randomness of knife attackers. That strange skin coloured attire he is donning just adds to the creepiness.

  • @bovinicide Almost so creepy it's hot.

  • if youre looking for good knife defence skills search for w hock hochheim

  • I think this guys mullet would more likely save him than kung fu lol

  • It's completely right what he tells about incorrect attacks. You ALWAYS see incorrect attacks when martial artists demonstrate how to defend against weapons. And the people only recognize the beautiful defending techniques. Then the masters tell you: "it's just a demonstration, you cannot fight furiously in a demonstration". So, I think that they shouldn't demonstrate it at all when they know it's nonsense what they show off.

  • What is a Real Knife Fig-Thing, and who does it Advise?

  • 9 people must have gotten stabbed while watching this video...

  • The best knife fighting is the one you don't have to do in the first place. Fortunately, Mark does say something in that effect on his homepage.

  • He is more realistic than just about everyone I have ever seen do a video on knife defence. They are very difficult to defend yourself against.

  • I think it's really valuable that he illustrates the "three fantasies" that martial arts demonstrations work on. Because it's very true, a lot of very advanced-looking kung fu is more a dance between instructor and victim, they're not actually fighting, some cases I've seen even though the instructor took him to the ground he left himself open to being hamstrung or his Achilles tendons being cut!

  • 2:11!

  • 3:52

  • 2:53

  • in this situation it is best to move out of the way of the stabber fast and find a brick, rock, piece of pipe or whatever is at hand to quickly immobilize the stabber and get away.

  • i'll hold stil so u can tear me up!! HAHA

  • great video , very informative .

    regards francokrav

  • @frankcokrav: Yeah, MacYoung has alot of great stuff.

I feel learned more useful stuff about self-defense from his website and just two of his books (I'm gonna be ordering more of em, though) than in all my years of martial arts training.

  • I think Marc is a cool guy.

  • Really scary that people actually are watching this, the face of that other guy looked like babyface's face do. creepy fuckers haha

  • That guy with the long hair sort of looked a bit out of it :P

  • i watched this video and thought it was just another"defense video" then i looked up Marc mccyoung and found out he is one of the most respected instructors in the game. The man is a warrior, hes NO JOKE,I gained much respect for him after reading his bio and his books,I even got the chance to talk to him after an altercation I had

  • "the bozo brigade" lol

  • well said right on.I ain't going to say shit about this I guy.Actually I can't he knows what he is saying

  • u r fuckin stupid cauz u never saw real martial arts fighter and u d o n ' t know anyting about the fighting

  • 1 stab 1 slice in the wright or wrong hands can kill you none can take any knifeman for granted.. chiv

  • lol "dick-pulling-fantasy moves"

  • 3:52

"Here I'll hold still while you can tear me up"

    FUCKING LOL

  • he is so right and so funny. however i doubt he has the answers either. the only answer is a gun

  • i agree with mac, i hate it when people stand there like manequins while you beat on them. that's unrealistic.

i practice to control spacing, such that the attacker has to extend himslef to reach me. i think if you let someone with a knife get close to you, you are setting yourself up for bad things. also, in my opinion, your defense should be accompanied by a disruptive blow to the eyes/face, neck/throat/clavicle. i do believe that if you smash their trachea, they'll forget all about you.

  • @toshindodisciple The manequin practice have it advantages. It's a nice thing to start with when you first start practicing a grip. But to not move beyond it once you have gotten a hang of the technique is lunacy.

  • This is what I can REALITY ! thanks for posting this !!!

  • is this a joke? this is fucking stupid.

  • "So I can like Kung-Fu him" LMAO

  • I think "animal" is right-on with what he demonstrates. Most other styles are Arts and rely on successive precise movements that leave much room for error. For instance, what knife fighter moves slowly and leaves his arm out for grabs? A knife fighter will cut, twist and slash even if you hold his arm! Animal trims it all down to basics that will allow you to survive.

  • Alot of stuff he said was quite true, and he was funny as well lol

  • i kind of agree with travis

upload the whole video, or don't bother.

  • Thank You very much for Your Tipps!

    Greetings from Germany

  • marc macyoung, William fairbarn, eric sykes,Col. Rex Applegate and kelly mccann have done more for actual real world combatives than any nonsense aikido/karate master...... good vid uraguayMSH

  • dnt forget imi lichtinfeild

  • nice vid uraguay. I teach krav maga and kali, and I'll tell you the traditional blade arts are good for reaction, hand eye coordination, edge dicipline, etc...but marc macyoung is right on target when it comes to surviving an edged weapon attack. Aikido and the likes are absolutely clueless when it comes to effective survival. A knife attack is the absolute last place you wanna be, survival requires speed, aggressiveness, and control of the weapon while destroying the attacker.

  • what do you think is the best form of knife defense and have u used it before??

  • one of the best knife advise ever. these aikido magicians should see this so they can learn realistic knife attacks and not theyre fake shit.

  • I typically don't comment, but I had to say thank you. I have done Eskrima for a few years and taught self defense classes with other local instructors, and this is just a good video.

Honestly, most knife fighting and self defense is common sense and awareness and in this video, there is plenty of that. And there is no magical technique that solves all problems and you demonstrate that point well.

    Thank you

    AEMS

  • Knowledge is power!

  • Indeed Mallachi, indeed. Be Safe.

  • Dear TravisK73, I think that you should DO make some research on Mac Young before TALKING. Anyway we will be here waiting to share with you our experiences when you grow up.
