That bassline in the beggining is so freaking tight. Which song is that? Bass isn't talked about much, but Greg Norton rocks the crap out of the bass. Best bass player ever.
Therapy just covered it - Husker Du, or should I say Grant Hart wrote the song - if it wasn't for the Huskers then there would be no song for Therapy? to plagarise. Anyay Therapy? are Husker Du for the uneducated.
I wouldn't quite go THAT far but yes, Husker Du are the main influence behind Therapy? and this version is way better than Therapy?'s. Cacophonous layered guitars work so much better for a song about a psychopath than measured cello and violin.
this is one of my fav HD songs exactly because of the part where the guitar enters after the opening bass/drum intro: that distorted guitar line just cuts to my sou!
People forget Diane was an actual person who met a horrible fate. It was all over the news in the Twin Cities. I personally love the song also but always try to remember there was a family that now only has memories of Diane.
whitelight - I think you forgot about the track "Gravity" (for one) on "Everything Falls Apart" which came out the year prior. I'd argue you could tell it even from bits of "Land Speed Record" but "Gravity" is a pretty solid foreshadow of what was to come. Ironically, I think that when they abandoned their early abrasiveness and roots they lost what made them brilliant, though I love some later songs like "Dont Wanna Know if You are Lonely."
This is a great version!.....>Not to mention an amazing show et al!!!!!! Yup! Yup!.......They were the sheitttt yo. Loved their records.....Loved 'em live......Still do!
I'm surprised that guy can reach his guitar, amazing song though.

what a fantastic Snare Drum he played

@hajomajor Yeah, always loved the sound of his snare. In my opinion the best one was in the video from pink pop 87 when they played eight miles high

I remember a writer claiming that Bob Mould's guitar sounded like someone dropping a tray full of champagne glasses in a church. He ain't wrong.

I prefer Therapy?'s cover of it, personally. It's so haunting...

Therapy may have great taste in covers, but they aren't fit to lick the sweat off Husker Du's balls.
