its an awsome band, i love dream theater and this sounds much like them, so i love them too :D

I don't think it's the same although they both are categorized as progressive metal.. If you like Prog. Metal perhaps you could check other bands such as Symphony X, Shadow Gallery, Pagan's Mind, Circus Maximus and etc etc.. Too many to type.
