regarding this is England 90, thats the time of RAVE & clubs playing black box, technotronic, ACIDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD, lol, that would be cool if shane carried on, remember shell suits from the 80`s,
This is England 86 is bang on with everything mate that is exactly the same time when I had just left school and my sister was a skin head and wore the same style of cloths and listend to the same music . I loved the series as it reminded me of the good old days. Yet another powerful and gripping series by Shane Meadows .I bet all the cast will go onto more greatness and I wonder If he will do This Is England 90 ,It's just a thought ......what do you think
This is England '86 is so wrong in many many ways! In my 1986 I did not see a single skinhead or casual! Maybe 5 years earlier but not in 1986, ever! I remember rap music coming on to the scene and the first rave squat parties happening. Mr Meadows has just got the whole thing wrong and it's sad to watch this utter mess! This is just the wrong date for the style!!!!!!! The casuals went out in the 81/2 and no one would be seen dead in a tacchini track suit.. The mod thing is also the wrong date.
@groove1971 - where you from groove 1971? in burton-on-trent 10 miles from uttoxeter there were skins, scooter boys and big gangs of lad driving round on "fizzies". This is England 86 is the closest thing i've ever seen to my mid teens...

@ArtcoreFanzine Are you kidding? This movie was like a skinhead soundtrack! Not sure where you were in '83, but the friggin film opened with Toots 54-46 for christ's sake! Though I love the song, I was a bit relieved that Liquidator, Moonstoomp and Israelites were not on the soundtrack as it would have been almost too cliche. I think he made great music choices.
@ArtcoreFanzine Of course many skins listened to Oi, but I have never met a Trad (of any generation) that didn't listen to Skinhead Reggae and Northern primarily. I am not sure about SHARPS or Boneheads, as I am talking Trads. Hard to argue that skin culture is not based around the music of the 60's and early 70's, to not listen to it would be like being a Punk who does not listen to Punk. cont'd
@ArtcoreFanzine Personally I have never met a skin that does not regularly listen to Skinhead Reggae and Soul, but I do know many who do not listen to Oi and 2 Tone strictly because it is not associated with being Traditional.
@ArtcoreFanzine California. Santa Cruz. Funny to think that guys were more traditional in Cali than Cardiff, lol. BTW, How old were you in '83? I was just getting into the scene then. I was 12.
@ArtcoreFanzine Yeah, I know where Cardiff is. I am in Cali. There is actually a pic of the Santa Cruz boys (Centurians) in Spirit of '69. I like ska, but the majority of skins I know really stay with the traditional line of Northern Soul and Skinhead Reggae though. I definitely don't have any rose-tinted glasses, though. I guess guys out here are just more into the traditionalism. Yeah we have all kinds of guys calling themselves skins, but real skins don't consider them to be.
It's always a disappointment to see the maker of something you like on TV, saw Dead Mans Shoes today and thought it was great
