  • boom boom shakalaka boom boom boom boom

  • I have not heard this song in years.

    Thanks for the memories.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • Loooooove this!!! Wish I could shake your hand....this is where it's at! Great video...classic soul...love the label on the LP.....outta sight!!! Thanks for this :)

  • The Honey Cone were just a sexy and diva soul group and these stunning honies were just electrfying.

Edna Wright, their lead singer is so glamourious and I understand she' still performing, what energy that she has.

Also, Carloyn Willis and Shelly Clark too were classical and this is what the Honey Cone were really about their soul and class.

They touch our souls forever more.

  • That turntable bring back memories

  • We appreciate you greatly for taking the time to post such great songs.

  • The Honey Cone was the most underrated, groundbreaking trios of all time. They pioneered the " I don't need a man to define me" generation. Great music. Thanks ladies for setting us old players straight.

  • Does the lead singer remind anyone of Freda Payne?

  • This is my favorite song by Honey Cone... "Stick Up"

  • Man...if all those hits are on Side 1, what was on the flip? Haven't heard this one in stereo in I can't remember how long...groovy

  • What great memories :) loved seeing the old album :))) where did those days go? wish I would have appreciated them more but thnx 2 u reliving again happy 2011

  • I absolutely love this! The video is genius! Thanks!

  • does this sound like the jackson 5 to anyone else? :D

  • TRIVIA 101: WHO SAYS "HOLD UP!" AROUND 1:14? THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS FESTIVE TRACK - HOT WAX & INVICTUS LABELS WERE INTEGRAL TO THE LATE 60s & EARLY 70s DANCE CLUB/BURGEONING UNDERGROUND SCENE, AND ARE STILL RELEVANT TODAY! MY CUEING LEVERS WORK BUT I NEVER USE THEM - THANKS AGAIN - DAVEDJ

  • @Multi1628 Isn't it Johnson?

  • @teddibearsworld General Johnson from the Chairmen of the Board, Invictus label? Dunno... DAVEDJ P.S. Did someone ask if this sounds like the Jackson 5? NOT!

  • @Multi1628 Oh, I thought you were asking a question you knew the answer to, lol. I was told by someone in the know years ago that it was indeed Johnson who said that line.. which would make sense, since he was the ranking producer and writer of the record. And as for the J5, I think the person was referring to the sound, key, and structure of the song.. which is very reminicent of at least 4 J5 hits. Peace, Ted.

  • @teddibearsworld Understand & am inclined to agree on all points! Thanks for the music, and Happy New Year!! DAVEDJ

  • congratulations to the people like you. You are doing the best for highlight the 70's music...

The idea of the video with the turntable is wonderful.... Thanks.. !!!!

I think you give all the information about the song.

  • One of my favorites. it brings back childhood memories....Thanks so much for sharing

    Gen

  • Thank You for sharing this song. I good party song I so appreciate it.

  • Doesn't your turntable have a cueing lever? You're living dangerously! LOL

  • Yes, my turntable does have a cueing lever, but it hasn't worked in over 20 years!

So it's back to the old school method of the "needle drop".

    Done gently, it's no problem!

    Thanks for listening!

  • @WABCRADIO77 From September of 1971 I remember it like yesterday :) I love it :) Thanks for posting

  • I see that the album is called "Soulful Tapestry". With this particular song on the Hot 100 in August 1971, I wonder if the "Tapestry" part of the name was inspired by the Carole King album that was high on the album chart then.

  • @rslitman I'm pretty sure it was inspired by Tapestry...The album paper is even textured like burlap...very cool concept...and the picture looks as if it was done in needlepoint...creative!
