A thing you can do too not forget to build in a city is to jump to all cities through the Construction Report. If you had all your cities building you can just jump to the cities that has finished building
@lewisgunner1 they're called Mercenary hoplites which I think they are just slightly better then Regular hoplites, if you have a character in the Greek/Eastern Europe Areas, or in Sicily its possible to recruit them as mercenaries, though I would reccomend removing them after they accomplish the job you wanted them to achieve as they and any other mercenary unit in the game have ridiculous upkeep and are expensive to buy.
@lewisgunner1 If you're looking for historical accuracy I would pick Europa Barbarorum hands down, it also has much more substantial AI then Vanilla does.
my cities always have loads of squalar (sorry for bad spelling) but yet i always have the top healthcare i can how do i help lower squalar without just healthcare
dude i remember i was playing as the greek city states and i sent 200 troops to a city guarded by 2 units of hastai each one had like 20 or 15 men in it and that was after a huge battle in front of the city and the romans beat ALL 200 OF MY TROOPS WITH JUST 30-50 TROOPS i was pissed liek hell and i almost never auto resolve battles now >.>
He is right, on hard mode and very hard mode the computer isnt any stronger but there units are like 3 times stronger. In one battle i had 20 units of hoplites against 2 chariot units and some eastern spearmen, the spearmen got close to the middle of my line and 7 units routed before they even got hit o_O, the only thing that affected morale was chariots, but because i never got hit i dont see why my units routed when i outnumbered them 4 to 1...
@HeirofCarthage Can you tell me the difference between RTW and Rome Total Realism. I know its suppose to be more realistic, but thats about all i know.
@rahmanroni A lot changes in RTR. The AI becomes "smart",compared to the idiot in RTW. It also increases the graphics. The Campaign becomes hard, and it's also historically accurate. They also added a crap load of troops and factions. And the campaign map is increased. A lot is better and it's WAYYY better than Vanilla (Non-modded).
I find campaign very interesting. especialy how different outcomes can rise. like your waiting for the Parthians to attack but when they do attack it could be at a bad moment.
yeah ur right, i just noticed how medieval 2 is thus copied directly from rome... its funny, because the same thing happens with napoleon total war and empire total war, and medieval 1 and shogun.. so you have like series of 2 games :p
Oh, Heir, you forgot to put you hoplites in phalanx mode! they dont really use their spears very effective out of it! That might be why on normal roman generals beat hoplites for you.
i think it depends on the nation greek citys really rely on trade for money barbarians rely more on farming so basicly as greeks id build farms for pop growth only
i mostly dont develop farms too much as i read it would help slow down pop growth once you got 24k people you dont want more people cuz they just get more tempted to freakin revolt
Definitely ports, as they bring in much more money. Farms help, but you should never build past the second level of farms in a city if you expect to try and reach the end of the game. You end up with ridiculous populations that do nothing but revolt all the time. And you can't destroy the farms. For me, traders are the worst, while roads are really useful, almost as much as ports
as greece training alot of ships is a good and possibly the best idea to protect ur income because umm.. there are alot of rebel pirates that are gonna attack you and also the romans(all kinds of) have strong navy too , so sooner or later you are gonna face romans good idea and ships is a very good idea , im saying because I have like 27k denariis income every turn and I really rule with greece
my game is messed up becuse the genral does not do anny more speeches and it doesnt show the info where it said if there tired, and it doesnt say what there thinking like if there eger, happy or what can someone help me fix it.
And not to harp on it Heir, but one on your cities happiness was over 200% and another was like 180%. you could easily go from normal tax rate to very high tax rate and still be in the green on happiness. Just make sure you lower it again if your governer leaves.
444, i dont know if you started with syracuse but the best way ive found for public order is to exterminate the population when you take a city over. It will take longer to upgrade say from a town to a city, but you rarely have to worry about uprising and takes way less troops to keep them in order.
Im having alot of problems with Sycracuse, no matter how many rhines i build people are still not happy. If i want them to be neutral (blue face) i have to have like 20 units of Spartan Hoplites in there. Is there something i can do?
I'm surprised you haven't taken Corinth yet (even though it is 264 B.C.) The Statue of Zeus can be incredibly helpful, and you clearly have the manpower to take it. Your strategy so far has been solid; I was just wondering.
I was wondering when you would upload the next set in the campaign, I personally like the Carthaginians and Greeks the best with campaigns I hate the romans because the senate always wants you to do this and that... I'm rambling aren't I? oops
In city battles with phalanxes, I usually find its better to spend the time to form up instead of attacking the units. That way its easier for them to stay in formation; then manually move them into the city little by little.
Here's a tip...in order to make sure you build all your buildings, look at the "Buildings Completed" list and press the magnifying glass to instantly go to the city.
Sorry for the skipping and audio skipping in a few spots, I don't know why my computer was acting up last night. It actually froze right after I made this video.
I normally move the phalanx into the position I want them to go and they will stay in phalanx formation while in the city. Just make sure they aren't chasing after the enemy.
As the Greeks I took out Rome and Macedon as quickly as possible because for some reason they are hard when they have their high quality troops. But as Carthage while defending from Rome I'd go for all the islands in the Med sea because of the income I get :p
I definately can't let Rome or Macedon grow too much, or they will be a pain to beat. Problem with Rome is they spread like a disease and it is hard to snuff them out quickly like other factions.
I usually take out at least two factions of rome cuz for some reason I don't like destroying them totally lol I rush Macedon first as the Greeks to get rid of close battles. I like Rome Total Realism mod tho everything is much harder but more balanced. You might wanna try that mod for campaign
I really enjoy watching your campaigns for RTW because you seem to be one of the few who know how to play it (:

@WarGamer21 you have to keep the population down. Recruit troops and/or let the city revolt, retake it and extermnate population.

MrIrishfan1171 is right!
at 4:10 you see the phalanx mode is inactive thats the reason why you had so many casualties in the battle in part 2 in front of Messana.
When the phalanx mode is active there is no chance for a single cavalry unit to break through even not for a general unit
