If grassroots supporters and Downing St seriously believe that Labour could have done better in the recent elections "if only Blears had not resigned, if only she had chosen better timing for her resignation" then they are deluded.

If Downing St seriously believes that their grassroots supporters are influenced by, and if those supporters are indeed influenced by, a woman pissed off that she didn't get away with fiddling with expenses claims, then they are indeed deluded beyond salvation.
