I think I have it but my mom thinks its just a cold , I have been coughing for about a week and whenever I cough my chest tightens up , my eyes are red, when I cough it is harsh , dry , and loud . I also have vomited a little bit after I cough. Do I have whooping cough?

They use this sound for an ad on tv for the whooping cough and this first time I heard it it caught me off gaurd and I freaked :(

That is a baby with pertussis (whooping cough), isn't it? That sounds so bad. There are vaccines to prevent pertussis.

my baby caught this at 8 weeks before she could be vaccinated against it...she has been coughing for almost 5 months now (although the whooping part is long over). Unless you have been through it, you can't even imagine how horrible it is. It is very scary. Vaccinate!
