Do you hand the tickets over to someone when you print them or do you just hold on to them? Also, is the NFTA service (bus, trains) operational 24/7 like here in NYC?
I am thinking of moving to Buffalo next month but I am afraid of getting stranded late at night in a bus or train stop that could have limited service. Your thoughts please.
Wow! You can actually buy ticket from a vending machine?!?!? We don't have that here in Toronto. We have to buy our tickets/passes from grumpy fare collectors at the subway stations. You guys are light years ahead of us!
Nooo way. Between GO and Via - you're miles ahead of Buffalo. We only have ONE light rail service, from the harbor (That no one goes to) to U.B.
The Zones that no one go are actually free. While the zones that people actually may use the rail are fare based. The underground section is the fare section, BTW.
I wish GO would extend rail service permenantly to Niagara Falls, and then connect it into Buffalo... And NFTA would extend backwards into the south towns and Southern Tier.
the subway system does have high ridership for many sports events and people going to work. There are no parking spots around the subway system you have to park at the ramp or any open parking spots and they are not cheap.
According to the American Public Transit Association, in the fourth quarter of 2008 daily ridership on MetroRail averaged 26,300 on weekdays. Published reports in local media reported that ridership increased in the first quarter of 2009. Cars DO share a small portion of the roadway with the railcars, but there is a granite guideway to prevent automobiles from crossing onto the railbed in a parallel direction. By and large, this access is used only by delivery vehicles.
I refuse to walk anywhere downtown between 3pm-4pm during the school year because of the unruly kids that the police allow to congregate on all the sidewalks and train. And just try walking through them and see the ignorant behavor they start, then call the police and see how they NEVER show up. Yeah, Buffalo is a freakin joke. What about getting officers to walk the beat? AND DO SOMETHING BESIDES SITTING IN THEIR CARS ALL DAY????

sometimes when metro rail gets busy they may take four to five cars at once. When not busy they may take two cars with them
amtrak2008 3 years ago
they never go above 4.

Yes, which will quickly spoil Metro Rail's perfect safety record.
