Outside of DM usage the 7.62x51mm is a little overpowered for defensive and law enforcement use. Using a round that will overpenatrate is a terrible idea. The 7.62x51mm is a great round for penatration, but to much can be worse that not enough. Saying "real men use the 7.52x51mm" is ignorant and inflexible.

The AK system is reliable to a fault and very durable. The ammunition is widely available and very powerful, if lacking in MOA accuracy. The magazines of the AK system are much more durable than most AR magazines. The AK system is simple and allows someone without much backround in weapons to operate one with some efficiency. The platform is not as versatile at the AR, but with some creativity it can be on par with any AR on the market. (E.G. Gabe Suarez.)

The AK tolerates abuse very well.

The AR-15 is very accurate, has little recoil and is perfectly reliable with proper cleaning and maintenance. The 5.56x46mm is a very light cartridge, which allows you to carry a lot of ammunition. With proper shot placement and ammo selection, it will stop threats very well. The parts and magazines are in use by our military, which means that spares and magazines are fairly easy to get. The AR-15 is a very versatile system.

Weaker spring? Doubt it my two AR's are as easy to "Rack rack rack" as he shows. Charging handle breaking? not the handle itself but maybe the latch if you really yank and release on it. I've seen some extended latches get ripped off if the operator is over zealous

yeah i have seen charging handles pop in the middle because when you rack it back with the support hand they (i guess the word would be push) to the right a bit. check out the BCM gunfighter from bravo company USA I got one and its awesome and for the sticky rack i put some different grease on it and its alot better now.
