Just think why millions of GBP are wasted on these firework displays while people in LEDCs are dying from AID, drought, starvation, malaria, poor living conditions, infected water, genocide (such as Darfur in Sudan which is still active), the list goes on.

I think New York's New Year celebrations are really boring. For being the World's most exciting city, I'm sure they could do a bit more than just shredded paper floating down on Times Square.

I know that here in the UK, people in Edinburgh and London are just as happy as they would be in Manhattan, however, there are spectacular shows to watch rather than confetti and a ball dropping.

I think New York should have a HUGE fireworks display.

well ok it does seem boring but it is a tradition we've been doing for a long time now, but for a huge fireworks display you might not even see most of it, and if they try to make it closer/visible it'll prolly get dangerous too.

there's also independence day btw... i think that's enough fire works for the year already.
