Super Metroid - Crystal Flash

For those who don't get it:

1. You need <50 HP, with at least 10 missiles, 10 S-Missiles, and 11 P-Bombs. The Flash only takes the ammo needed (say you have 30 missiles, your missile count is 20 post-Flash, and so on with your other sub-weapons). 10 P-Bombs are absorbed, you need one to start it.

2. Your reserve tanks need to be dry (i.e. zero).

3. To perform the trick: Hold down your Angle Up, Angle Down, Fire, and down buttons.

4. Read the Super Metroid Comic for the trick's explanation.

If you let the title screen idle for a bit a few different movies will play. Back in the day when the game first came out, seeing the demo for the crystal ball was both amazing and a mystery. Back then, if you needed help you asked your friends, checked in nintendo power, or called the faithful nintendo hotline. That's right kids, back in the day you had to pay for cheats.

Also try the fun (but rather useless) special attacks with the charge beam if u dont know them already. Just equip the charge + any ONE beam upgrade (i.e. freeze/wave/spazer/plasma). Then select the power bomb, charge your weapon, and hold.

You can pause and re-equip all upgrades after the charge released, and the shots will change accordingly.

But as every activation consumes a power bomb, and you cant have more than one upgrade equipped to use them, they're rather useless ^^

how to make crystal flash: ingredients: -11 super bombs -10 super misiles -10 normal misiles -take all the needed ingredients, crack them open and pour whatever-the-f*cks's inside them into a bowl -then mix it with whatever you please -then go ahead and sniff it your body will suddenly be full of energy! crystal flash=crystal meth of the future! damn... I'm lame... :P

I have played through the whole Super Metroid game 3 times over the past several years of playing it. I remember that game and every area in it so well. But never in my life have I seen or heard of this ability before. I'd say it was impossible for it to be real if it were not for the fact that it's used in several other videos and looks so real too. I just can't beleive this is a real non-glitch move that I never knew about after all these years.

@TailsClock there are plenty of secret moves, like crystal flash, its 100% possible to do at anytime when you get the power bombs.

Have you heard of the ''charge special moves'(not sure what's their name)? you have to equip the charge beam and another beam, but JUST ONE then equip the power bombs and fully charge the beam.

i.e. select the ice beam and charge beam, equip the power bombs and fully charge the beam. go and try it yourself owo

@magneum1 yea but it will make it WAY HARD because it will take awhile to charge the beam because all bosses cant be damage by a normal shot and missiles are the only way to save you from bosses except if you do this on the first segment of the final boss you can live but so missiles and the giant metroid will save you and your missiles and my first long comment

@daveeol I think it may have been originally featured in Nintendo Power. I knew about it back in the day, and there's nowhere in the game or manual that tells you how do to that move, or the secret charge attacks. And since there was no internet... Nintendo Power was it.

it's good to do this when needed. i actually like doing this crystal flash thing. the murder beam is fun too but it kind of screws up the game. but there is also the alternative for the bomb i like doing at times too. it is when you charge the beam then go into ball mode while having the beam charged and 5 bombs will drop at once. i don't know what it is called for this game but i call it multi bomb or cluster bomb to help me remember it.

I don't know how someone figured that out.  At no point in the game does it show you how to do that, but then again, they didn't really show you how to do anything. That's what so great about Metroid - you have to figure it out yourself.

By using this technique you can obtain the 'Spawn Super Missiles' without fighting the boss.

it doesn't take all of your missiles, super missiles and power bombs, it just needs 10 of each, and i think 11 power bombs, which is why those are the minimum you need to do the move

u must have less than 50 of energy, no energy tanks neither reserve tanks, hold R and L, press down 2 times and hold, press the button to release the bomb and hold all until she turns into energy ball! =]
