ok let me ask this question. i was told it wasnt possible to put 4 gigs on these macbookpros they told me 3 gigs was the max you can use for these models. did ur computer work properly after putting 4gigs???
can you tell me the exact specs of ur mac? and what year your got in in? because i have the 17 inch and it looks to be the same exact model but they say the max load is 3gigs
wow that is sooo weird man. my specs are. 17' mbp 2.33 ghz core 2 duo and im running 10.4.11 i just dont understand how ur laptop hasnt fried people have told me dont put 4 gigs on that thing tops is 3 im so like puzzled on that...
I just did some research, and apparently OSX can take up to 64 GB ram. I believe max RAM is a a software limitation rather than a hardware limitation. However, if it was Apple employees you were talking to, they would most likely say the max is 3. If you want to try putting 4 gigs in your computer, you don't have to worry about it frying. Any unrecognizable memory will just not be used (if you put in 4 and the limit is 3, the OS will only recognize 3).
thanks for responding man u gave me a better explination then apple did. apple coulnt tell me crap lol. i think its also thr software limitation rather then the hardware i dont c why a 2.33 core 2 duo wont be able to handle 4 gigs...
@MegaTechie The maximum RAM for the MBP mid 2007 'Santa Rosa' model is actually 6GB, though Apple officially supports only 4GB maximum. Many people have had success installing and using 6GB in their MBP, I'll be upgrading myself very soon.
i got the ram for free :D i know some guy works in dell he said DDR 2Gb is old now( 4GB total) .. O_o so he got it free for me and i installed it! it works perfectly now!! :D :D
I accidently did this once after receiving my computer from being repaired (they had removed the RAM). Nothing happened at all, except the sleep light on the front of my computer started flashing.
it's a plastic protective case made by Speck. you can buy them at the Apple store or online. I use it to protect my computer from scratches and the like

Yes, my computer worked fine. They might have been talking about an older model.
