  • forget about the dancing !!..........what about the fantastic group and musicianship!!!!!

  • Back in the days when it was real dancing!!!

  • It is sooooo hard to believe that the people in this video are now in their 50s or 60s. This is my mom's generation and she's in her 60s now. Watching this makes you realize how precious our youth is and it will be gone soon. I'm not so young any more (I'm an '80s kid), but one day I'll be 60 and wondering "where did time go?" This show feels like it was taped yesterday.

  • Just to state this for sweaepe, I'm white, Polish, 27, and I'm watching all of those Soul Train vids because of my black friend, Chris Bell (RIP) that told me about them. And he was right, line dance (that's what it's called?) rocks! Those guys had serious moves!

  • @SWEAEPE I'm a black man and might I add, a real black man. You are a disgrace to our race my lost brother!

  • the first guy shown was shabadoo then right after him was greg campbell lock jr. Later flukey luke was shown. I heard that they danced on soul train alot but its my first time actually seeing them for myself. Pretty cool watching the lockers do their thing.

  • Like this if you noticed the brotha's fro getting disrespected at 1:32

  • @hardtoletgo ahahahahahahhahahahahha fuckin hilarious

  • @ SWEAEPE I feel sorry for you and hope one day you can find peace in this world. There are a lot of good people on this planet and guess what, they are all different colors and races. Peace out!

  • Black People were the Coolest People on the Planet in the 70's

  • @seanblack23

In the 2000s black people are STILL cool.

  • @BeautyHealthZoneBlog

Maybe, but they totally squandered all this magnificent music they had.

  • @alkemious

Good music lives on. That's why we are able to enjoy it like we are doing. Besides, we still have some good artists making good quality music, although many gifted and talented folk don't get the recognition they deserve for their art.

  • Soul Train was cool no matter what color you were! This was a class act show! Rest in peace Don. We love ya bro!!!

  • @Curtisba32 Shut up negro and stop defending whites.

  • HOly shit tits @ 1:11

  • I think a show like Soul Train was good for America 3 years after Dr. Martin Luther King's assassination in 1968. It brought black people into the homes of white people (TV) who probably would have never opened their front door to a black person. While ST continued well into the 21st century, I think the 70s version was the best and the most endearing. Also, the clothes aren't that bad. I don't think the clothes are ugly... just creative. The world needed ST after decades of blandness.

  • 2:12 awesome robot

  • @Handiman544 No clue since I was born in the 90s but it looked like a hell of a good time!

  • Keep stepping....RiP...to The Original O'G

  • RIP Mr.Don cultural game changer indeed. This show was past from my parents to my siblings right down to me. We all had saturday mornings in common and saturday morning aint been the same. Soul Train Line 4-Life

  • The couple in the beginning are brothers and sisters I think. I think his name is Scoobi Doo and I can't remember her name. They use to have articles about the dancers in Right On magazine back in the day. Patricia Davis is the girl you see any many of the videos jerking her head with her arms turned around backwards. Her nick name was China Doll

  • 1:35 always cracks me up.

  • Been disconnected from FB and the media all day! On the grind this week! Don't know any facts yet...this is the first I've seen. Thanks for your post...as I watched this video...was thinking of so many good times! Kno too many of those steps...I don't feel that old! LOL RIP DC will never forget you MAN!!! :o)

  • 1 for the tranny at the very beginning in the red skirt lol awesome

  • @gigimc, that wasnt cool

  • @summersbr1 I beg to differ! he pulled it off well and very gracefully I might add... [wait! that WAS a tranny tho right??] seriously, if it was a woman, I'm really sorry, I just assumed it was a guy -- the build, the face... [?]

  • @gigimc That's a girl.

  • @gigimc Why you deem it necessary to refer to that woman as tranny is beyond me. People have their own unique look and its even possible you may not look very manly to some people either but even with that why would they refer to you as a tranny. Its ridiculous. I've heard the same crap about Tracey Chapman because she doesnt have the traditional look of a Beyonce but yet she is all woman. We dont have to be a mean spirited hurtful people saying anything all in the name of "being real".... peace

  • @summersbr1 As 'rough' as people see her Tracey has a feminine jaw, this person did not... and it's odd that some of you people seem to think I'm insulting this person for being a tranny/ again, on the contrary I WAS NOT. I just thought the movements were exaggerated & ultra-feminine. I saw broad shoulders, a tapered v body & slim guy legs. In either case the person was attractive. It may very well have been a woman, I just saw theatrical dude... not a bad thing! :) peace to you

  • @gigimc, what you call 'exaggerated" movements was how we danced at that time If you notice the young men in these videos, they had no problems moving, bending, kicking their feet in the air and dancing in such a way that todays generation would call it "gay" or "soft" Its exaggerated to you because guys dancing today are limited to standing behind a female and grinding on her butt and they pass that off as dancing or "getting down". Truth is we just got on the dance floor and moved our bodies

  • @summersbr1 I can see this is going to be a very lame & circular exchange. Let's just leave it as I see what I see & everybody else sees what they see... the bigger picture is that the pioneer that brought us Soul Train is now gone. Courage to Mr. Cornelius' family during this sad time...

  • @gigimc, i agree, we can agree to disagree. it is what it is....peace

  • @summersbr1 You're right summersbr. People weren't calling others gay all the time. The fashion was loud & colorful. People enjoyed dressing & seeing what others were going to show up in at concerts & parties. This was when it was cool to dress & sneakers were for the gym. Now young men walk around showing their butts & hanging out with each other more, what's more gay than that. 70's music lyrics tell the story of people having fun, what does todays rap music tell you about people today.

  • @summersbr1 This dance is actually still going strong. It's called Locking. You jus have to find the right areas that still do them or teach it

  • @elzar555, you are accustomed to being part of a generation that is constantly being told that if you want to hear good music or dancing it must be looked or searched for. Are you kidding me? Once upon a time the good stuff was mainstream and the crap had to be looked for but today the tides have turned. How sad

  • @summersbr1 i dunno if that was a negative comment or not but i dance like this. This type of music you will never hear again so i enjoy all funk

  • @summersbr1 I'd pay to be able to dance like this and to have this style of dancing back

  • @gigimc, since i spoke on her, check out Tracey Chaman's "Fast Car" live video

  • I Want each and every outfit worn by the ladies!!!

  • RIP DON!

  • I never missed a show I don't think...just the best. Loved going to disco's and dancing..learning from the awesome dancers. I lived in Hollywood at the time and it was super fun. Thanks Don..you made it happen for us. Keep it going up there! Love you.

  • A LEGEND TO R&B MUSIC! R.I.P. GOD BLESS HIM!

  • As a young white man growing up in the south in the late 60s I kinda broke some barriers, dated black girls, started watching Soul Train, would watch American Bandstand, and then what some honkeys called African Bandstand. Call it what you may it was great entertainment for all that would watch. It brought Black Americans to the television screen showing off there music and there moves. God Bless You Don
