  • starting to sound a little mean, (goes lower) thats too mean. baahaha yes

  • This is fucking awesome! Thank you!

  • "kill your cat" hhahhahahaha

  • This is impossible in the demo, right? :P

  • You rocketh! Sweet tut brotha! Keep up the good werk. :]

  • what the hell kind of artist name is 8Bit...

  • Excellent job with this tutorial... Perhaps the c64 Messiah will have to make some renoise 8bit dubstep? hmmmm

  • how do i cut down the sample

  • I see wobbles

  • forward thing doesn't change, mac version

  • how do u cut it to a tenth?

  • Wow, really good tutorial, thanks man.

  • uh ohhhhhhh lol

  • im hitting the forward option and nothing happens? what do i do?

  • I noticed you were using a sine wave I thought wobble bass was traditonally a square wave...guess it does not matter eh? Your a fuckin funny dude I wanna get high with you lol.

  • @Dubulardevice #1 So what, I'm not skrillex or Moby, who f*ckin cares. Who the hell are you? I am 8Bit, now you know, go read a book or my discogs, first release was in '93 - on vinyl. #2 You're 16 and have 10 channel views. You want to talk about achievements? #3 I had 3 records out by the time you were crawling. #4 Why are you drinking the haterade when you yourself are a huge little pussy?

  • dubstep came from dnb, not "older techno".

  • @TheHevquip Actually Dubstep is a mixture of Dub techno, dnb, and some raggae influences...With that said where do you think dnb came from...Techno...point is it really does not matter concidering it is a new progression in the realm of music which makes it even more awesome. ;0)

Btw, not hating, just thought I would point that out. Peace.

  • @LatigidGolana Dubstep may be a lot of things, but I would say Drum and Bass came from reggae, dub, and chopped up break samples (and if breaks are the foundation of DnB and Techno isn't based off them, then I don't how DnB comes from Techno unless we want to say any kind of electronic music influences every other electronic music), and turned square-wave basslines into something that hadn't been heard in Techno yet. Techno is not an umbrella term to me...

  • @TheHevquip Breaks is the foundation of DnB because it is more drum orienitated but the sampling, and synths in DnB might not have ever been without Techno. But I digress, My point was that because dubstep is such a mesh of a number of different styles, it does not matter where it came from because it is a new progression of music and has(like many other styles before it) trancended its origins. ;0)

  • UTTER BOLLOCKS!

  • How do i get the sample to stop playing when i set it in the track area? I put it in, but even after it gets played the sound keeps playing?

  • this was quite useful, although i already new about lfoing the frequency etc, just never used the automation properly on renoise. i usually just have lots of commands all over the place being switched on and off. quite alot more time consuming.

  • Here's my problem - I have the sample but when I set to 'Forward' the sound doesn't change, can anyone help please.

  • Another Body Murdered!!!!!

  • Lets say I were to change to track/sample from the C-4 to an A-3, would that be an okay substitute rather than playing with the octaves? (New to Renoise too. ^_^ )

  • @WGBraves24 yup. same thing.

  • how do you cut the sample to a tenth?

  • how do you change the octave... i dont have it up in the corner like that

  • @Enjoi603 if you can't find it manually probably have a different view set-up then me. Use numpad * to increase or numpad / to decrease, hope that helped.

  • @landbridge whenever i do that the octave never changes.... it just has the number go 0 - 8 and does nothing

  • @Enjoi603 What's your experience level with renoise? Have you ever played with octaves for any other sample or instrument?

  • were is the lfo device ??

  • @DJViscid check the metadevices section

  • @landbridge i dont have the AU low pass and im on windows 7... soo?

  • @Enjoi603 this question has been answered many times already, please read the comments

  • @Enjoi603 download some vsts

  • Comment removed

  • @landbridge how did you get the AUlowpass?

  • @Mr4Stoner2Man0 Native->Filter click on lowpass. I think anyway

  • Fresh..is..the..word!

  • I like how many people are concerned about cutting it down to exactly a tenth of a second. Seriously, guys; it's called hyperbole. Just chop it down until it's really short.

If you can't figure out how to cut it that short, just load up a sample, use the scroll wheel to zoom in a whole lot, then select a small portion and hit trim sample. Voila, done.

I'm pretty sure it's all in the tutorials if you read it, though...

  • Is there any way to get the cut off frequency to start at zero every time I press a key?

  • i used a sample from an edp wasp.

  • Press like if your starting too see (Already did press like man :)) )!

  • im kinda new but how do u cut it down to a 10th/and do the "trick" u did

  • @EpicDuel007 I cut it down to a 10th of a second and did the "trick" I did.

  • @landbridge please tell me how to cut it down to 1/10 of a second.. i cant figure it out

  • @jollypapabear he just marked most of the sample and pressed ctr-x a cpl of times, until only the first "10th of a sec" was left.

  • @EpicDuel007

you just get the sample up in sample editor then select most of sample and cut it down using the scissor tool :P the press a button on your key board. hope that helped

  • this helped alot man^^ thanks a bunch.

  • useful vid, thanks

  • I loved the commentary and I liked the sound. Nice tutorial :)

  • that was fkin awesome tutorial bro subbed

  • Nice tutorial.

Did you know you can easily record the frequency of the LFO with your mouse?

Just use your right mouse button on the frequency parameter slider when the pattern is running and record is on.

This will generate pattern commands in an effect column. You can do it with almost all the parameters in Renoise, even with some VST plugins.

Remember to put the marker in separate effect colums for each parameter, or else you might end up erasing your previous commands.

  • Thanks! Great tutorial mang.

  • yo yo yo, LMAO

  • man you just dag that out from 10th part of a second...OF A SONG!!!

    pretty cunning...

  • can you translate that to fl studios

  • OMG it's an accent I actually understand.

  • Utter bullocks! lol @2:45

  • yo.

added a video as a response (bassrack wobama dubstep preview), check it out.

the wobble you made is decent, just beware of getting it too PC-ish :)

  • i like how u say old techno ahaha

  • super funny tutorial like

  • 'drop down or drop up' :L 'whoa thats too mean might kill your cats or summin'

  • @landbridge haha noo i can see, my version of renoise doesnt have that AU lowpass

and ive looked thru every file

  • @DeadknightSixXx Under your native effects, there should be a sub-directory called Filter, inside of which is a filter called Filter. That thing is basically the same thing as the AU low pass, and it has other filters you can experiment with. If your version Renoise doesn't have that, there are a few zillion free VST filters that might work, but I don't know how good they all are. The one in Renoise has kept me happy so far.

  • @DeadknightSixXx @Dalvidos on pc use the "filter 3" effect and make sure the "lp" tab is active. Exactly the same with AU which is a Mac only audio unit so pc guys won't have that specific effect -- use filter instead.

  • @landbridge Thank you so so much. My dubstep is underway. When I make a final track I'll notify you if you're interested. Thank you. So much.

  • @landbridge perfect dude thanks so much i found what you were talking about

  • damn... He did mock me (I'm British... but literally, I'm an avid FL user and you've just made me decide that this is the way forward. fuck. i need to start using this thing.

  • all i need is the lowpass to make the wub sound. Do you kno where i can get it?

  • @DeadknightSixXx Someone help this guy out, seems like he can't see.

  • start killin your cats lmao

  • Great renoise tutorial man! Even though I have no interest in creating dubstep this gave me information very useful indeed. Thanks and please do more videos :)

  • @djkrixa thanks bro, dubstep is an aCKwired taste. :) did you check out the how to make a beat 15 minute epic one?

  • your commentary makes this video

  • bollocks = bad (ie 'bullshit')

dogs bollocks = good (ie 'the shit')

  • nudge, N U D G E

  • I clicked "like" because I was starting to see.

  • Fantastic tutorial, thanks! Looking forward to seeing/hearing more!

  • hey there buddyguy. im interested in producing dubstep but im not sure of where to start ie. which daw to use/how the fuck to do anything. your vid was super handy, id just like your opionion on renoise vs. other daws out there for a beginner. you can throw down drums right??

  • @SMOGTREES hey bro, renoise is the only option for everything including dishes and laundry. Making dubstep in logic, fruityloops, ableton or ______ is heresy. I started off using Octamed for the Amiga and will always use trackers, but renoise is the evolution of it all like when the Earth when from magma volcanoes to walking spore creatures. Ill do my next vid on dubstep beats in renoise. 8

  • @landbridge HERE'S YOUR HOW TO MAKE DUBSTEP BEATS VIDEO watch?v=k2okk996Dk8

  • @landbridge excellent post imo

  • @landbridge Sorry bud, I cant find the AU thing, is it disabled in the demo version? (yes yes I'm buying it soon) ftr I'm using windows 7. not sure if that affects this at all

  • Also you should note that using a velocity device under "modulation" in the DSP effects menu will help reset your LFO every time a new note hits, just in case you're trying to do uber precise wobbles. ;)

  • "In my case I have a track ball 'cuz I'm dope".

    Like'd.

  • Haha split the atom

  • this is how i learned! i thought i was the only one lol big up 8bit

  • how do you get the "Ovtave" Menu @ 1:28

  • niceone

  • Dubstep came from... eh jungle.... also.... mostly?!?

  • You should upgrade your renoise to the new decade :)

  • @crocz wow, point one version behind counts as a decade? Really, dude, c'mon. :)

  • @landbridge The phrase wasn't coined by me but got it rather from the renoise website about 2.6 :p

  • good work 8bit, solid lesson.

  • @TEM1065 thanks, now with scripting someone should come out with an easier way, but this technique can be used universally even on dj mixers with loop buttons and effects.

  • Oh hell yeah I start to see!

  • lol at 1:25 great tut man, check out my channel, I've uploaded a few dubstep/renoise videos. you also can get some really messed up wobblz with some flanger and setting the filter type to ringmod or dist, anyway, keep em coming man!
