does any one know what type of drive is inside?

I bought this exact one a few weeks ago. The only thing I hate about it is how easy it gets dirty (with dust) and it's also very easy to scratch the cover when you wipe it (kind of like the PS3). Also, because I have a notebook and I move it a lot, you can see all my fingerprints over the disk.

Do you know any kind of cover for it?

Does it make any noise?

When you enable this drive you hear the booting of the device. After that you don't hear much noise.

I just bought the 500 GB model of this drive today from J&R Computer and Music world. I hope it is a great drive and holds up a very, very long time. I may do an unboxing video myself, plus show my connection to my laptop. LOL! :) I was glad I saw this video which helped me get a look at the product before buying. Thanks for the upload. :)

Hi.. I just bought this product from amazon. Just have a couple of questions. Is yours plugged in all the time? And is it running all the time?

Because I intend on having it running all day, and i hardly ever turn off my computer. Does it heat up easily? And also do you know if it's bad to frequently turn the hard drive on and off?

ähm yes the icon of the hard drive stay on the desktop the hole time. I think as far as i know that it has a sleep modus. But the sleep mod don't take many time for "booting".

Thanks for this video! I'm thinking about purchasing one to use with my MacBook Pro. Just a quick question, was it easy to set up with your Mac?

Hi... Yes of course it was very easy. You have only to plug in the USB (or FireWire) cable in your Mac and thats all! The only thing what you have to do as second part was to insert the installation cd but i don't remember if it was necessary for using the harddrive

It's a very very good product! I have another HDD from LaCie too. This one was very slow to use after the plug in. With the Poulton one: If i plug it in i see immediately the Hard Drive Icon on my desktop and otherwise i haven't got any problems.

It's pretty cool! After unboxing i formatted the hard disk and i created 3 partitions. If i start the hard disk then the HDD Logos came a lot faster than my other HDD (from LaCie too) At the moment i haven't got problems with my new device. I wish you a lot of fun with yours :)
