I liked Naruto. I still do wanna read it to the very end, but Basilisk owns it 10-1. One remarkable thing is that my fav character is Yashamaru, despite the fact that he dies quite much in the beginning. That's what Basilisk is, it hooks you to characters that might die in the very first episodes BEFORE they die. That is GOOD writing. I simply love it...

Sure Naruto has powerful characters, but that is how they are, in context. But the beauty of Basilisk is that the characters aren't overpowered, they actually die. That makes Basilisk the better anime. That, and the fact that Vasilisk doesn't suck :)

God this was such an amazing series & the opening was just so vivid & heartracing. But to all the people here bashing Naruto, this isn't a damn contest. Ok the series does have its flaws but remember that Naruto is a shonen series this is a series for an older audience. That's like comparing a kid show to an HBO drama. Don't make uneven comparisons. @DragonofShu True, but Naruto is aimed more at ages 12-18 while Basilisk is aimed more for audiences ages 18-30. If you're a kid a heart then you probably would still like Naruto but then later on you would love Basilisk which doesn't have all the chibi faces and derp moments that anime series for younger people often have. And for HBO, its a channel on cable that stands for Home Box Office. Has great movies and series like Spawn.

Actually basilisk is like a naruto with sme perverted scenes and less funny scenes. ANrtuo ahd too much humour wich is a negative. But basilisk wnet in the other side and has too little humour which is a negative too. As for the perverted scens i consdier them a negative generally cause I dont like them, but that is my opinion. In terms of actions sadness. They are pretty much the same. in terms of violence. Naruto ahd some vioelnt moments but not even close as many as basilisk.

Some people here seem to be misinformed that this is a historical anime.

This show is based on the fantasy novel written by Futaro Yamada.

Although some of the Samurais such as Shogun Ieyasu or Yagyu Jubei did exist, all the events and episodes are nothing but fictions.

Still, this is an incredibly good anime.

Naruto has no historical value whatsoever (then again, the point of Naruto is simply to entertain, whereas Basilisk is to entertain and to inform a bit about how things were).
