  • Big Big thanks to whoever put this compilation of Dusty's classics together. So glad to see so much original footage so we can remember her by. A unique voice and talent. Thanks for all cast and members of Gold Coast Little Theatre for a great 'Dusty' show, very professional show. Enjoyed it so much.

  • absolutely awful for her, don't know what she was thinking

  • you can download an mp3 of this performance here:

    rustysprungfield.wordpress.

  • Entertaining Song

  • Dusty is tops, but the very best version of this is by Ella Fitzgerald IMHO (on youtube to boot)

  • One hell of a talent woman!

  • Good morning, do you like sixties? Listen and pod cast my program " great sound of 60' s " on the site plumfm. Greeting and made blooper in rock and roll.

Salut, vous aimez les sixties ? Ecoutez et podcatez mon émission "le super son des sixties" sur plum fm. Salut et faites gaffe au rock'n roll.

  • This gives me so much happiness. Dusty was probably the greatest female singer who walked the surface of this earth.

  • AWESOME!!! xoxoxo She was pure magic!

  • She had SOUL!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • give me a few beers and i'll pull out the eye shadow. I'd make a great Dusty impersonator - I'll show you just how butch she was *o*

  • You would never guess the torment she was going through

  • Makes me want to kick over every chair in sight.

    WHAT a woman.

  • I wish she had been kidnapped by the Grateful Dead and returned as a high priestess of acid rock LOL : D

  • It's a cover from RARE EARTH ?!!! or is it the opposite ?

  • @Vivelabretagnelibre

actually, it's a cover of the Temptations- Rare Earth released their version 2 years after Dusty performed this.

  • Wow!!!

  • Outstanding, lest we forget.......

  • You know how every white girl singer tries to pull off a classic like At Last? Give it up. Watch Dusty. Incredible.

  • Didn't like Dusty 40 odd years ago.....things change.

  • groovy, baby...yeah!

  • doubt she ever would have signed to motown, she wouldnt have been prepared to lose the freedom to choose her songs etc. Motown was run like a factory

  • She's blazing hot with Soul!!

  • I grew up in Motown...they say Dusty was the 4th Supreme.

  • to be honest mate i think dusty would have prefered to be known as the `4th vandella`.

dusty and martha reeves were big friends.

  • my most favourite group are the supremes

and I can just agree with you dusty is one of my favourites :)

  • Actually the quote is "Berry Gordy was the fourth Supreme." Also Dusty was never friends with the Supremes, but very close to Martha Reeves.

  • Nope, I'm not positive but I believe it was Diana who said Dusty was and yes they were friends...that is documented in videos/home movies I have seen. I'm sure the same went for Martha & the Vandellas though. Dusty was friends with all of Motown and so many other musicians across the spectrum of music...so the video record shows.

  • Naw. That is incorrect. All the home movies/videos I have seen have shown that Martha and Dusty were best friends. But thank you for your comment.

  • @carter84262 I thought The Andantes were known as the extra Supreme(s).

  • The Andantes were a Motown group that filled in backgrounds and even at times main tracks on various female artists' songs. I meant that I read that several Motown major players referred to Dusty as the 4th Supreme and I've seen images, including in books about Motown, in which Dusty is pictured with the Supremes. Then there are the reruns of Dusty's TV show where she sings with the Supremes.

  • Too bad she didn't make a Motown album.

  • That would've been huge!!!!!

  • @calvin667 Check out Kiki Dee's Motown album or Chris Clark's Soul Sounds - should give you an indication to the sound of a Dusty/Motown album

  • She was such a great singer, and she could really MOVE TOO!!

  • Go for it Girl! Love & miss you Dusty.

    R.I.P lass Ray♥ X X X.

  • I gotta crank my volume up for this lol

    .......man she was GREAT!!

  • The temptations!

  • Look at this set, sooo Sixties. Wonderful

  • "I NEVER MET a BOY who makes me feel the way that you do." Badass moment..

  • I love these Dusty BBC performances. She was an unstoppable blonde goddess singing any and every kind of song with grace and expertise. Just breathtakingly beautiful.

  • Dusty Springfield, and Irish girl Tom Jones, Welsh, were not for the Celts the English would have no soul!

  • Amen, Miss Dusty is my Celtic Soul Priestess..check out "can I get a witness.." this child levitates me!!

  • Nothing wrong with this at all.. her lovely big voice handled it well over the powerful backing!

And for n'er sayers.. Dusty had every right to give this an airing, having been 'personally' responsible for promoting Motown artists in the UK on her show, inviting many to come and sing with her here on her TV show... and never once being overshadowed in vocal talent. She loved them and of course recorded her own soul album on Atlantic in Mmemphis which was very well received.

  • verbijsterend goed

  • great music from dusty, ever heard ella fitzgerald sing this? Also very good. :)

  • Ah. I have something at the back of my memory.., but must definitely listen to it again. Are you sure it was Ella? Any references?

TY anyway for bringing this up ;-)

  • Well this is definitely better then the other Dusty Springfield cover I saw here on the tube. Very good job from her!

  • A fab version here from Dusty and brill footage.

  • ONE GREAT SOUL DIVA R.I.P.DUSTY

  • I'll second that, thanks Bob!

  • A TRUE LEGEND

  • i like dusty but she should have left this song alone

  • When I have the choice, I prefer Rare Earth. But this version is quite acceptable, too. The song is not butchered and she has a voice for this stuff.

Without a choice, I cannot name my favorite; without Rare Earth, this would have been it.

And: I cannot understand people who give a comment a poor rating, just because it does not mirror their own opinion. These *are not public elections*, here on YouTube! There is a lot of crap to be devaluated, but certainly not Tharowkilla's comment! Please!

  • TEMPTATIONS ! only only version that should be listened to ! x

  • She could sing anything!

  • Dusty was the only blue-eyed soul singer who could pull this off! Of course Rare Earth covered it, but she is actually doing a good job on the Temptations' hit. I would have loved to see a duet between her and Eddie Kendricks on this--that would have been off the chain!!!!

  • I can't find the album where this song appears, can somebody help me? I dont want te temptation version or similars, only the true Dusty Springfield (l)

  • she had the greatest style!

  • My favourite song .... Dusty Springfield RIP :(

  • Excellent song choice. Dusty did Motown well.

  • One of the greatest soul songs, by the greatest blue-eyed songstress ever. Luv ya Dusty!!

  • This and ALL of Dusty's BBC tv shows that still exist (9 of them) are going to be released on DVD in October, both in NTSC and PAL formats. Be sure to get it! It's called "Dusty live at the BBC".

  • Oh, thanks for that! I will be getting the DVD as soon as I can!!!

  • Hi everyone, the dvd is out and on offer at Amazon during Nov and Dec 2007.

  • I would agree with baldenlong77 lol sorry. This is one of the best examples of dusty springfields singing and this was live as well...

  • AMEN TO THAT!

  • Thanks!

  • so fabulous.

  • Its also professionally orchestrated and with her great voice they support each other in a very dynamic way..

Does anyone have an idea where can one download version with better stereo quality sound?

  • omg i cant download this song from anywhere.. gutted lol

  • The blackest white girl ever go dusty!

  • Recently, tagged along to be the caretakers of two teens at a Chemical Romance concert. The band was polite and humble. The lead singer commented that he loved Dusty Springfield's soulful songs. Dusty was the best!! Rest in Peace, Dusty.

  • Wow, ive only recently discovered dusty, and boy her voice is amazing!

  • She sounds good, but the original verison by the Temptations sounds better.

  • I go along with everyone else, the lady could sing anything. How unfair it is that life dealt her such a shitty hand.

  • I only say one word: WHAOU. I'm 27 and have discovered Dusty since only few months. Sometimes i regret not to be born in the 60's...Voice, rythm, gestures, hair all is perfect. At the same time in France we had only bad songs and no singer like her or shirley...

  • Actually, you would be amazed how many fantastic French pop/soul acts there were in the '60's.

  • WOW!! Dusty is amazing , The British were slamming in the 60's . Cilla, Lulu ,Patula, Shapiro Ms. Bassey I love them all.

  • man this is a really hard song to sing. Dusty makes it look so easy. Classy singer.

  • Very nice!

  • Dusty Springfield is THE greatest singer of all time IMO. As the previous comments have already stated, she can sing ANY song and make it her own. She really was a star in her own right! And yes, I LOVE the hand gestures! ;D

  • YEP!!! Check out "I dont want to go on without you" from BBC DVD and on utube

  • She can make any song her own the band is really tight on this one.

  • Love it! Thank you.

  • Gotta love the hand gestures. And that voice... that's soul.

  • this is great

    Mary
