Now that changes may be underfoot, it is more critical than ever to support Virginia Cantrell and Toni Clover. As has happened so often before, teachers will be the primary target of any "adjustments" that are suggested. Virginia and Toni will fight for teachers and will not allow the contract to be gutted, while those who lined their pockets continue to benefit.

Yes, I agree . Unlike the ambitious but unqualified people running against them, Virginia and Toni have the tremendous advantage of experience, success and intergrity. Virginia and Toni can actually read and understand the contract --and they have done so to secure and further the RIGHTS OF TEACHERS under an administration that respects nothing and no one. They will work for us.

Virginia Cantrell is experienced leadership that dft members can trust! She always tells you the truth -it may not always be what you WANT to hear but it is always the truth. President Cantrell understands and is aware of the issues that we face each day. She does care about the dft members unlike the last leader of the dft.

None of the competitors that have run and are running against Virginia Cantrell can hold a candle to her. DPS knows she is a force to be reckoned with!

Virginia Cantrell's leadership of the Detroit Federation of Teachers has been highly successful. She has maintained a lower profile unlike the past leadership that was very boastful and braggish.

She works non-stop for DFT members until the job is done and done right! Unlike Ms. Cantrell's present opposition for leadership of the DFT, which allowed many grievances to go unresolved under his charge while at the DFT and in turn, created undue legal expenditures for the DFT and the members.

Cantrell is a helpful and worthwhile advocate.

The other run-off candidate once told me that I (a SpEd RR teacher - Ph.D., HQ), was a "resource teacher (contract sub)." This ignorance of BASIC contract language scares me.

Provisons regarding reemployment of former DFT is a concern. As a person HQ in 4 shortage areas, I want to return and would like to do so at my previous level.

Critical is Early Childhood and Literacy. A person with lapsed credentials would value these concerns?
