Bruce just aint interested in the crowd is he? "Im just here to play my song and make my point, i couldnt give a rat's ass bout you lot!" The man's a legend who doesnt get the recognition he deserves these days.
liberal traitor, draft dodger. what does he know about WAR? He's never served. THis libtard has not even once did a USO show for the Military,NOT ONE> and has never even visted wounded warriors in our hospitals. hmm, why because he can't make any money. He's a socialists but Loves the perks under capitalism.
@chitown1966 You realize that the American Vietnam Veteran's Association probably wouldn't exist without Springsteen's GENEROUS donations over the years?
Great stuff from the Boss, great performance!...only other war related song i've heard of such class is a song called "Man of Steel" by a guy on yt who goes by the username of "dusstead"

I know Bruce talked about this on his storytellers but I don't think any song summed up what it was like living in a post 9/11 America better than this song. "I've got my finger on the trigger, but I don't know who to trust.:" That really sums it up.
@drunkcoach why? Bono is a great man. And he has nothing but the highest respect for Bruce Springsteen. They are good friends. He was still standing and applauding the brilliance that he just witnessed when everyone else just say down.
He sounds like Dylan in this version. Also, this is a more uptempo and upbeat version in a higher key than the album. Notice the capo on the 3rd fret. On the album he plays in double dropped d tuning. I love that he has multiple ways of playing songs. It just makes it annoying to figure out exactly how to play his songs, lol. I play it the way it sounds on the album Devils and dust. Check out my cover.
i have to disagree with you. anything expect their songwriting quality is completely different, for example their way of performing on stage, their relation to the audience.
what a brilliant song-writer, no matter how many songs he write he always hit people were it ocunts, in the heart, connecting with their teenage angst or their or their insecurities or maybe just reminding us of a better time. possibly the greatest solo artist of all time. what id do to be 30 years older...

Only anti-war song close to this is "Blowing in the Wind' but I don't know another song that takes you inside a scared soldier's skin like this one.
mrbriscoe2001 2 years ago 3
This is destined to become one of the great anti-war songs.Especially for wars like Afghanistan and Iraq where the question is always:Friend or Foe?
mrbriscoe2001 2 years ago
he seems so much like bob dylan in this video, its almost scary

He's one of the few people who actually sound better live than on an album or can actually kick butt live!

He's my inspiration. I have no words how to describe the beauty of this song.

This is my favourite version of Devils and Dust. Pure dynamics. One guitar. One harmonica. One voice. Amazing!
